This is without a doubt the best (read: comparatively inexpensive and completely honest) auto shop on Aquidneck Island. FULL DISCLOSURE: it may not be the place for you if you can't get a ride to drop your car off or if you require really quick turnaround (or if you want a fancy waiting room and coffee). For everyone else looking for a mechanic with reasonable rates who will never rip you off and always go the extra mile, Dave Beard is your man. He and his guys have never upsold me on a repair I didn't absolutely need and they will never do the bare minimum. He chided me once years ago for overspending when I went somewhere else to quickly get my tires replaced—Monro didn't get the associated front end alignment correct, so now I just save money and get all my service done right the first time through him. And if you have a problem with a repair, he'll make it right. Those rare times when I've brought something back he's fixed the mistake free of charge and no questions asked. If you ask his advice on repairs, he'll give you an honest assessment of how long a component will safely last and a reliable estimate on the price so you can plan ahead. Plus, Dave is about the nicest guy you'll ever meet and a pleasure to talk to. Dave has worked on all four cars I've owned, a '92 Dodge Shadow, an '89 Cadillac DeVille, an '06 Toyota Rav4, and an '07 Toyota Yaris. He's also a used car dealer. I trust him so much bought both the Rav4 and Yaris from him, and they came with a three month warranty to boot. He'll even buy a car for you at a dealer auction if you know what you want. I've been going to him now for about 9 years with no complaints, no headaches, and with more money in my wallet. I think that's evidence enough of how good he is.
