After several unpleasant experiences with other garages around town, I finally settled on John Tennis Towing. Don't let the name fool you; they do excellent repair work. They are willing to answer questions and they do a good job of explaining what was or will be done to the car. Recently I took the car in because I thought the brake pads needed to be replaced, and I made this clear when I dropped the car off. After checking the car, they explained to me that the brakes were squealing only because of glaze and not because of wear. I'm sure that many of the garages I'd visited before would have taken advantage of the fact that I was willing to pay for a new set of brake pads. I appreciate the honesty and fair treatment at John Tennis Towing.

I had the alternator of my Pontiac quit on the Friday evening before a holiday weekend in 1999 or 2000. I was planning to leave the next day for a several hundred mile road trip. I searched to find someone that could replace the alternator by Saturday at noon. John Tennis Towing replaced the alternator on Saturday morning, the alternator didn't give me any trouble for years afterward, and they didn't charge an exorbitant fee. I was a happy customer.

I used Tennis towing for the two years that I lived in State College. They fixed a few problems that I had with the car before moving into town. On the first repair, they planed a set of warped brake rotors rather than replace them, saving me a lot of money; I haven't had a problem since.

John Tennis pretended he tried to jump-start the car. Then he told that it was not the battery. Then he told me it would cost me at least $45. When I asked him for what, he told he did not want to work on the car. Then he demanded $16 for towing 3 miles above AAA limit. But it was just the battery. He refused to pay back $16 he took for nothing. No towing was needed. He refused even to return $4 for overcharging me. There is a small chance he is just incompetent rather that being dishonest. Then he is a fool who does not admit he makes mistakes.
