Tony, the older Italian man who owns this shop, is a lifesaver. He's been repairing my cars for 5 or 6 years now. He repairs the cars of all my family members and friends, too. In fact, since I moved to Washington DC a few years ago, I still drive back to Pittsburgh to have him do work for me because his cost is always about one-third cheaper than any other place. In short, he's everything you want a mechanic to be: reliable, honest, and cheap. Don't be put off by Tony's demeanor - he's a man of very few words - but he'll do the work right and for a good price. You may have to wait a few days before he can take your car since he's very popular but he's a true jewel.

Tony's Garage was recommended to me by a friend - and has been a life saver ever since. It's true, I was a little intimidated by his manner at first - truly a man of few words and many grunts. But he has a heart of gold. And as the friend who recommended him told me, "You know how you take your car to a mechanic for one problem and they find all of these new things? Tony usually finds fewer things wrong than you thought there were." It's true that he can't always get the work done quickly - due to how busy he is - but he gets it done well and as inexpensively as possible. We will be lost when he retires!

Been taking my cars for 4 years now and the service is excellent as well as the price. Expect a great service, though not a great chat.

Tony is great. Don't expect any real pleasantries, but expect honest, reliable, and inexpensive work. His garage is huge; you can't tell from the outside but I walked in and saw easily 12 cars (6 on each side) lined up. Took a while to get the work done, but given how many cars he had in the shop, I'm not surprised. Very knowledgeable and very fair.

Tony was incredibly helpful in fixing my car. He performed repairs that another shop estimated at $600. His initial estimate was $320, but ended up only charging me $50. This included 2 tires (he found good used ones). He was straight-forward about what needed done now and what could wait, which I really appreciate because I have a very tight budget. I don't think he treated me differently because I was a woman there by myself. He's not very talkative, but if you ask questions, he answers them. He may take a little longer to get your car in compared to some places, but for me it was absolutely worth the wait. He's 2 blocks from the 71a busline.

Note: This place is also known as MELLON STREET GARAGE. They are the same place. Tony is still the owner, and he is still a man of very few words. He is also a reliable, straightforward, affordable mechanic. I took my car here for state inspection, and I needed it done quickly. I brought my car in the day after I called, dropping it off at 8:30. He called me by 9:15am to tell me the car passed inspection except that it needed new front brake pads. Told me prices up front. It was ~$35 for inspection and ~35 for emissions. The brake pads, parts plus labor, totaled $115 (2006 Honda Civic). Overall faster and cheaper than any other place I've found, and they work they've done is good. They also told me that I will need my front calipers replaced pretty soon and told me what signs to look out for so I know when I need to bring it in. I definitely recommend Tony and his garage!
