The shop may scare you when you first see it, but go on in, Dan is great and helpful. (He has plans to rebuild the shop on the same spot.) Dan kept my old Porsche 914 and my VW Van on the road more years than I wanted. (Now I have a Nissan and Toyota) And you can always get a few opinions from Dan about any currant event. We don't have public transportation in Lincoln City, but you can walk maybe 5 to 10 blocks and you will be on the beach of the beautiful Pacific Ocean, or eat Mo's, Oregon's finest seafood Grill. Also, he's right accross Hwy 101 from Tom Lifton Moters, also listed in this Car Talk list of shops. Dan has experience and he is an experience. His shop is a family place, and to keep him happy, We take him a Christmas basket every year.

First brought my '89 Nissan truck to them when I couldn't get the problem resolved by two other shops in town--they noticed right away a gasket was leaking; the others had simply revved the engine by setting the timing higher & told me the next time, I'd need to replace the timing chain. The second time, I thought it might be the clutch-- and it was something much cheaper, much less expensive-- They could've gouged me because of my ignorance but didn't. Since then, I've taken it there for both routine maintenance & when my heater started blowing smoke.

Dan and his crew are nothing short of amazing. They know their stuff, explain it to you, keep you appraised and is HANDS DOWN the most fair and honest mechanic I have ever experienced.

Did your car break down on your fishing trip? Stranded in the middle of the sticks? Don't know a soul? This shop is where you should go! They diagnosed and fixed the problem very quickly. We thought the repair would be super expensive (at the beach, in a hurry, etc) but NO - it was $250.00 cheaper than the exact same repair we had done 3 years ago in our home town. These guys rock! We bought them lunch! The place is nothing fancy, but the service is first rate!
