George Hortnagl is a one-man mechanical shop and is always busy. He is always willing to talk to a customer about what they really need, rather than what they think they need. I once asked him about a fuel system flush that a local oil changing chain recommended and George just laughed. He said that the only thing that would get flushed was my wallet. He is absolutely honest, charges are very, very reasonable, and he will suggest other repair shops for repairs that he can't do. My wife and many of my friends have been there and always have been satisfied.

Finding a good mechanic is like finding a good dentist... part of me wants to shout from the rooftops and part of me wants to keep it a secret so I can get an appointment when I need one. I like to listen to the angel on my shoulder and share the good news. George Hortnagl has worked on our Volvo S70, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Neon, and Ford Explorer. I've seen every sort of car other than electric cars in his shop. As an added bonus he's funny and interesting and will explain what's going on with your vehicle. The only thing that makes me sad about this shop is that he doesn't have an apprentice. I'd sure like to know what I'm going to do if he ever retires. He charges a fair and competitive rate for repairs. He doesn't do front end alignments or air conditioning systems.
