We've gone to Clayton for nearly 20 years, through many an old clanger; and he has been unfailingly kind, honest, reasonably priced, and our automotive security blanket. If he retires we're going shanks mare. We bought our last car through him. He'd maintained it for an older couple, and when she could no longer drive, she called him; and he, knowing we were looking for a car in that price range, called us. We've put 100,000 miles on it. He's always booked to the max, and has many loyal, devoted customers. But he will always take time for us, and will explain anything. We recommend him to everyone, and have never been embarrassed. The only problem is that he is so booked up that it sometimes takes a while to get the work done, but not enough to risk someone else! If he says it needs to be done, it really needs to be done. There's no question. And he tries to keep prices as reasonab

They always meet their scheduled times. I pay more for an oil change and lube, but it is worth the relationship. They have done free short emergency work for me.

The last time I took my car in for some smoke at start up. They told me that I was looking at needing a reman engine, there might be some other ways to go and they asked me to check back with them at a later date. When I did so, they said that the reman engines had some problems associated with them and I was better off looking at a new car. Their honesty is great.

I had a very positive experience with Clayton's Auto Repair. I was having trouble with the clutch on my car, and took it to Clayton?s on 2/1/07 for diagnosis. The service representative (named Jonna) later called to tell me the clutch master and slave cylinders were failing. I mentioned that those components had previously been replaced by a different repair shop that was located 50 miles away. Jonna asked me for the name and phone number of the other shop, and she then contacted them to obtain a copy of their service records for my car. As a result, she was able to find that the parts for my car were under warranty, and she saved me a considerable expense. I felt this level of customer care was exceptional. She could have not investigated the issue for me, and instead charged me for the parts and increased the profit to Clayton's. I am happy to document Clayton's (and Jonna's) exceptional service.

I've had my 1997 Mazda P/U at Clayton's twice in the past month and have been thrilled with their services! I took my truck in originally suspecting electrical problems. Instead of taking advantage of me they found that the problem was actually a relatively cheap fix: the headlights had exploded. Their thirty-point safety inspection, done at no charge, indicated that I had extensive work that needed to be completed. Jonna, the woman who cheerfully answers the calls, took the time to explain what needed to be done and why. She also took the time to break the work down into five estimates, prioritizing what needed to be done ASAP and what could wait. When I brought my truck back into the shop a few weeks later to have the repairs done, she had already completed an updated estimate that was considerably less than what I was originally quoted. She then proceeded to deduct miscellaneous charges, stating because I chose to have several things done at the same time I would save some labor expenses. When it came time to pick up my truck, the bill was about $200 less than what I had originally been quoted. How often does that happen? After having the repairs completed, I called another shop in town and found that they would have charged nearly $600 more for the same repairs, even with a AAA discount of 10%. And the other shop did not offer the 2 year warranty on parts and labor that is standard at Clayton's. I highly recommend Clayton's to anyone needing dependable and affordable auto repair. This truly is a shop dedicated to serving their customers, not just making a few bucks!
