I've known Neil Jacobs for a long time. He serviced my cars for number of years. I've not always agreed what Neil has said, but over the years and being around the automotive business for a while now I can say what Neil does is far greater than the average mechanic can offer. I still don't know of anyone that can service a car, truck, motorcycle, better than this man can. In this world of specialized training Neil can probably fix your car better than someone that is trained to fix only your car at the dealership. He works on a variety of cars, some cars being older than others. Working on older car's is where many mechanics get lost and get frustrated and can't figure out where to start first.I must say to diagnose what's truly ailing your car is very difficult to pinpoint at times. Most technicians like to try this part and that part and all that happens is you end up with new parts and a large bill and also the same problem you went in for in the first place.I've been to Mohawk Automotive and I've been elsewhere. And going elsewhere is not the place to go. Mohawk Automotive is not going to be the cheapest place in the world to go but there's a saying, great work isn't expensive it's priceless.

I originally took my car in because it was not starting in the beginning of the summer. Neil seemed to be a competent mechanic, but when I went to pick the car up, it still would not start. After another week, he decided not to call me and let me know what the problem was, but instead replaced several parts (which even I could have done) and charged me nearly $1000. Not only was my car STILL having problems, but I noticed some major scratches on the roof of the car that I know I could not have done. Neil is the perfect example of a scumbag mechanic who will overcharge you and still not do a decent job. He put Ford spark plugs in (rather than the OEM plugs), and over-tightened the negative terminal on the battery which almost wouldn't come off when I went to take the battery out. If you are in the area, look to a different shop. He seems knowledgeable enough, but overcharged me for a few simple jobs I could have done myself. He does not seem like an honest mechanic and I am beyond pissed that I went to him in the first place.
