they did an excellent job! brought my car in for a check up when it hit 10 years old. turned out i needed brake work, so they didn't charge for the check up. plus they fixed a rubber seal on the car without charging. and they were very nice.

I was recommended to go here by someone who fixes cars, and I asked him where he goes to have his own car fixed. He recommended Manhattan Diagnostic. I called immediately, got in right away, and was more than pleased. I have recommended them to everyone I know, to anyone who will listen. I have never felt so taken care of and valued as a customer. I am not talked down to, as a woman, or brushed aside, or were my questions minimized. And they do the job well. Don't hesitate to use this place, they are true professionals.

These guys are the best. I found them by chance when looking for a place to get an NYS inspection done and have been going back ever since. I am almost completely ignorant of all aspects of automobile maintenance and am ripe material for rip-off merchants, but this place always treats me respectfully and honestly and answers my dumb questions. My trust in them was reinforced after I went somewhere else for a simple oil change and wound up losing all my oil and trashing the engine. These guys replaced my engine at reasonable cost and then gave me free oil changes for the next year (with top grade synthetic oil) to make sure I went back and didn't blow another engine! I now live in New Jersey and am seriously considering driving back into Manhattan to get my car serviced.

After getting a diagnosis from my neighborhood mechanic that I knew was bogus, I brought by 1988 Honda Accord LXI to Manhattan Welding for a second opinion. Nathan looked at the car and quickly found the problem in my suspension (exactly what I thought it was) carefully explained the problem to me, and fixed it for a fraction of the original estimate. The work was done in a matter of hours, and afterwards the car handled better than it had in years. He answered all my questions knowledgeably, and he didn't condescend to me because I was a woman (like MOST mechanics in the area tend to do!), and I would honestly recommend him. Unfortunately I wasn't able to enjoy Nathan's work for long, as someone set my beloved Honda Accord on fire while it was parked on the Upper West Side. But I called Nathan for tips on what kind of car to buy and he couldn't have been nicer. Now I when anything goes wrong with my new used Nissan, I am going straight to Manhattan Welding and Alignment.

I had an unusual problem--there was an exhaust smell I noticed whenever I was idling. The first thing they tried was replacing some sort of plug, I believe, that was intended to seal an opening between the engine and the cabin. It didn't solve the problem, but the cool thing was that they didn't charge me for it. When I brought it back, they went over it thoroughly and found that the oil pan had rusted and that oil was dripping on the exhaust pipe. Replacing the oil pan did the trick!

We had our front directional lamp assemblies stolen. Yeah, I know. They got the part in a day and installed it the next day, and when one kept popping out (bad retainer design) they fixed it without charge by using some sort of expensive Volvo windshield adheasive. They recently dropped their labor rates. Yes, this does worry me. Cars are much cheaper to fix than airplanes. All those folks who whine about the high cost of car repair should try owning a small plane, where "Oh, by the way..." repairs can run to five figures.

I first met these guys when I needed a car inspection. I found them on the internet. Of course, I needed a "few other things taken care of" before they would give me a clean inspection sticker, but they did not seem to be out to get me (a woman). I have since had them replace tires (twice), do full tune-ups and even fixed up what I call a New York Bumper (took out the dings and repainted - look great - cost $400). They do the job on time and are very pleasant. Even helped me re-install my son's car seat.

I took my car here after experiencing difficulties with another repair shop which did not diagnose or properly correct a serious problem (overheating - blown head gaskets). This shop provided accurate information and corrected the problem.
