Chris and John are terrific guys. They REALLY know thier stuff!! Always a pleasure going in to see them, even if my car is doing fine. The shop itsself is hidden from the road a bit, and to some might look a bit grungy, but they are always pleasant to deal with.

You get the feeling you are among friends. It seems like they bend over backwards to help you! In this day & age, it's great to find a garage that a woman can trust! Check our their used cars for sale - terrific prices!

The boys, Chris,Dave, and John are great !! Have brought them several of my vehicles along with two of my son's. All the work was done on time and at a reasonable price. I would recommend this shop to anyone with a Volkswagen. By the way the telephone number is 845-621-7155 as I see it is NOT listed. Give them a call, you will find that they know their stuff.

I have gone to the shop many times for repair, accidents, and service of my VW. They are not only priced fair but the work has always been exceptional and timely, especially on my accident repairs. Dave, Chris, and John were all a pleasure to meet. I am glad to have met mechanics you can finally trust.

Chris, John and Dave are the nicest people I have ever encountered in providing a service to me. They listen to your issues, are very friendly and are very accomodating to your needs. They care that you are happy with your car and with any arrangements needed. Most of all, I can trust them to give me an honest answer and to do the job and do it right. I have always been treated with great respect and kindness. I highly recommend them! Sincerely, Dorothy Fiederlein

Chris, Dave &John have been taking care of my mom's VW's for years. They have always been great, honest and friendly guys. As long as mom, aka "Mario", is on the road even at 86, the guys will be taking care of her VW. Cookies help, BTW. Hazel's daughter

I've known the owner, Chris, of Last Chance Garage, for many years and have taken my car there in the past. Up until now, I was satisfied. HOWEVER, this all changed, it felt like a Jekyll and Hyde situation. We contacted Chris for a safe and reliable commuting car. This has been almost 4 months ago now, and in that time, the car was used TWICE for it's purposes. The rest of the time, it was either at their shop sitting around, or at a real mechanics garage being repaired. Chris brought an issue up to us before we test drove the car saying that since it had sat a bit, the shifting had to "work itself out". Well, that was a misrepresentation of the facts, we had to take it to a mechanic and was diagnosed as a broken gear linkage!! When he was informed of this, he did not offer to refund us the money; he just said he was sorry and that he thought it would get better. REALLY?!! We were offered to have the car bought back at the 'original purchase price'. As I noted to Chris, we spent $1,500 to have the car repaired to a safe/working condition. We were told that whatever repairs we decided to do were our own decision. Yes, I'm sorry, we decided we'd prefer a SAFE car!! When the Temperature light came on THREE times, we were advised to ‘check the coolant level’. Three times for the same issue, this is the advice of ‘experts’…needless to say, we did not trust this, so we had a mechanic look the car over and was advised the RADIATOR WAS SHOT. Last Chance actually did this repair, after first asking us "what is it we want" & having it for TWO WEEKS in their shop. When asked numerous times for what updates/repairs were done to the car so we could update our files, our requests were never answered. At this point, I can only trust what we've had done by another mechanic. We're out thousands on a car that still has the ENGINE LIGHT ON! (when we purchased the car Chris acknowledged the Engine Light and said it was just an emissions thing. He reset it for inspection purposes and noted that when it comes on again he'd fix the issues). We took his word on this. When I contacted Chris about the Engine Light recently, he replied that any further communication from us would be considered harassment. HARASSMENT?! Can you really harass someone for expecting professionalism in a business owner and for them to honor their word? Look up other reviews on Yelp and Yellow Pages for others input. To address some of Last Chance's responses: "honesty is a top priority" - how honest is it to say you fixed the car only to find out all you did was reset the codes. "making sure our customers drive away in a safe vehicle" - really? Is it for certain customers only?? When we drove out with our newly purchased vehicle, it was NOT safe; with bald tires, shot gear linkage, broken axle, and leaking shocks. I'd hate to see what a non-safe vehicle looks like to them. "expertise with VW's &Audi's " - is that why they don't seem to fix the issues the first time and one has to come back repeatedly for the same issues, only to have them NOT fixed? This troubling situation desecrated a relationship of almost 30 years over a few thousand dollars. I hope it was worth it to them. As I value my safety, money, and emotional state of mind, I now go to the dealership. It's way better to pay dealership prices so you can get a positive resolution should an issue arise. Last Chance Garage had their last chance with us. Dissatisfied and disappointed.

Last Chance is the most reasonably priced and best auto mechanic in the Northern Westchester / South Putnam Counties area. While specializing in servicing Volkswagens and Audis, they have serviced my 2009 BMW and my wife's 2006 BMW for over two years now. The only service they cannot do on a BMW is computer-diagnostic servicing. Last Chance will also service American and other foreign cars. Chris and John, the Last Chance owners, are friendly, diligent and honest mechanics.

Once again, Last Chance Garage proved to be great. This past Wednesday, my wife was driving her 2006 BMW 325xi, when all of a sudden a red alert came on the temperature gauge, the car itself slowed down into a safe-drive mode and would only run at greatly reduced speed. She pulled off to the side of the road and called Chris, one of the Last Chance owners. Chris advised her to stay put and he would come to her. She was about 5 miles away and he came in about 15 minutes. He said the car was over-heating and that he would drive the car slowly to Last Chance; my wife road with Chris' assistant to the garage. Chris said it would take an hour or two to diagnose the cause of the over-heating. So, my wife called me and I came and picked her up. Chris called us about two hours later and said the problem was the electric water-pump that circulates the radiator coolant (anti-freeze), which was not working and needed to be replaced. Chris said he was surprised that the pump broke because, even though the car is nine years old, it only has about 59,400 miles on it. He said that the BMW specifications also recommend replacing the thermostat when replacing the pump. He said the pump would cost $535, the thermostat $121, a bolt kit $18 and BMW spec anti-freeze $18. He said it would take a day for delivery of the parts, and that the labor would take about four hours. Two days later, the car was ready and the cost was exactly as quoted. The nearly $700 that the parts cost is the price you pay for having a BMW. Last Chance's $105 hourly rate is the least expensive in the northern Westchester / Southern Putnam County area, its auto-repair expertise is top rate, and its personal customer attention is almost priceless!
