Jamie and his crew are magicians. They have kept my crates running long after they should have been recycled into toasters. We have 4 cars and the "baby" has 136,000+ miles on it; between the 4, we have almost 750,000 miles on them.

I found out about Jamie Rockefeller from a good friend of mine who, under Jamie's tutelage, managed to keep his Nissan Pathfinder running well for something like 250,000 miles. When our 1998 Subaru Outback developed a chronic overheating problem at 84,000 that the dealer couldn't figure out, it was Jamie who diagnosed the unfortunate fact that we had a hairline crack in our engine block, and then performed the major surgery required to fix this problem (basically a new engine) for more than $2500 less than the dealer proposed to charge us for the same work. Jamie's work on more mundane matters has been equally competant, reasonably priced, and compassionate. A very capable and honest mechanic.

Jamie (Rockefeller) is a very good man, aside from being a super customer oriented mechanic. He took the time to write down a list of things he wanted to look at before he started to work. He emphasized before going all out, that he first wanted to see if the Jeep was safe. Safety is the most important factor, was his repetitive phrase. First make sure the jeep is taken care of in safety matters, then concentrate on things other concerns. He really impressed my fiancé and me with his detailed description of things he wanted to further address. He had about 10 detailed issues he described in a carefully thought out and documented (on his pad) manner. He took the truck in a test drive around the block with us and tested everything from the turn of the car, to the pickup to the abs. He started it and turned it off to determine if there was a recurring issue or if there was just a one time aberration. When I told him I only had 300 dollars to spend, it sounded to me that he had already done that much work, and he still wanted to do more without going over that price limit. I plan on doing a sort of monthly plan until the Jeep is fully up to my personal satisfaction. It's my baby, has a straight six engine, 247,000 miles, and taking it to Jamie was the best thing I've done so far. Renting a vehicle was more costly than fixing up the Jeep! So far I'm only reporting my experience with Rockefeller Auto up until now. We have yet to receive the Jeep back, but once I do, I'll give an update. This is a trustworthy mechanic. I hardly fill out these things and when I do, I give my honest opinion, for good or ill. Update to come.

We live on the west coast and our daughter lives in New York state. We bought a used Ford Fusion for her mid-August in New Hampshire when we were on a family vacation but did not know of a mechanic in New York near her for a thorough inspection after our purchase. When she recently had a flat tire I had already done some Internet research and thought Rockefeller's looked reliable, especially since Car Talk gave it a good rating. I persuaded her to have her car taken to Rockefeller's and I am glad I did. Without the flat tire we may not have known about the repairs and part replacements needed for her brakes. I called the shop several times with many questions and I felt I always got a thorough and honest answer from Jamie. I feel confident that her car has been well repaired and inspected and will be safe to drive. I appreciated that Jamie knew I was concerned about making sure he made the right repairs for her car and took my concerns seriously.
