Jun 23, 2010
On June 21, 2010, we left our home in PA to drive to New England via the NY Thruway. In Greenwich NY, the brake line to the rear brakes on our 1993 Aerostar blew up. My husband, John, called our mechanic in PA, who suggested crimping the line to slow/stop the leak so that we could get home 4 1/2 hours away. This failed, so John (an industrial electrician by trade) cut the line and tried to fold over the end. All this got him was a face full of brake fluid. We went into the Advance Auto in Greenwich and a wonderful employee named Tim not only recommended Marty Smith's Garage, but he called and arranged for our car to be fixed first thing the next morning. He also tried to find a rental car for us, but had no luck. We limped to the garage and the owner, Garson, looked at the brake line and assured us that he could fix it. He, too, tried to arrange a rental car for us, but was unable to find one. He offered us the use of one of the garage's loaner cars (remember, we are complete strangers from out of state) and asked nothing for it other than a fill-up when we brought it back. It is no exaggeration that he saved us. The next day, we returned, paid a very reasonable price for the repair and drove home safely and without incident. If we ever break down anywhere near Greenwich NY again, Marty Smith's Garage will be our first stop.

We take all of our vehicles to Marty Smith's garage. We have 3. We think the world of Garson(who is Marty's son)and trust him implicitly. He does not make unnecessary repairs and always errs on the conservative. He gives us the required information but leaves the decisions up to us.He has never tried to sway us into making a repair that we weren't comfortable with. He is trustworthy and honest not to mention just a really nice guy. We can't recommend him highly enough!
