Our '96 Camry died on the NYS Thruway, and ended up being towed to Gochee's Garage, which happens to be located in the town where I grew up. The people there could not have been more kind and helpful. The first thing they did was find us a rental car, so that we could get on our way to my mother's 89th birthday party. (She was with us when this happened.) They allowed us to leave the car on their lot for several weeks while we dithered about whether or not to have the engine replaced. Eventually they did replace the engine, always keeping us in the loop of what was going on. When there was a problem with the new engine, they stood behind their work, and even paid for a rental car for us to use while they straightened things out with the engine's manufacturer. We are VERY impressed with this garage -- their honesty and good service are above reproach. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

After breaking down away from home my Toyota was towed to Gochees. They were about to close but took the time to help me. They immediately called a car rental company to pick me up as the rental company was also about to close. I decided to have them install a new Jasper engine which turned out to be a dud. Although it turned out to be Jasper's fault they went beyond the call of duty to make sure the problem was corrected, even giving their credit card # to my local mechanic in case the fault was Gochees' own. I found this out accidentally when they offered it to me on the phone, thinking I was the mechanic. I have never been treated so forthrightly by a garage.

This is the garage everyone wishes they had. Good work done at a fair price. And, if they don't feel comfortable doing a job -- as they told us with fixing a particularly complex item on our euro import, they tell you up front. Brakes, engine work, tires. They're good and get it done on time. And when they do come across something they (and you) didn't expect, THEY CALL YOU! PS: For Car Talk listeners: I never got the feeling I was making a boat payment.

Family place, no bs, no upsell, keep you informed if anything comes up or is delayed. When I don't fix it myself, this is the place I go being comfortable they can do it right.

It took three days to "read" the on-board computer code. After I complained that I really needed the car back for commuting to work they fixed the wrong thing. Stay away.
