I have a '89 Ford F-250 pickup with 73,000 miles. (White in color) I replaced the radio myself with a more modern model and in the process dislodged a vacuum hose under the dash. As you know beginning in July through the summer months it's a bit warm in Las Vegas. The AC would only blow air through the windshield vents. I left the truck at their shop in the morning and returned early afternoon. They could have said they spent hours repairing the AC but said it was only a vacuum hose and refused to take any money. They won a place in my heart. I find them not only to be honest but competent, reliable, and a pleasure to do business with.

They don't sell you what you don't need.

I own a 1990 Nissan Sentra. I needed a mechanic so I checked the CarTalk.com website and found Honest-1 Auto had a good rating. Towed my car in for an emergency repair replacing my alternator. When I got the car back and the permanent mat that is attached to my carpet on the driver's side of the car was torn off and nothing was said. I then took my car in for a brake job. This time I got the car back with a broken hub cap. How can you not know you have broken a hub cap in several places and say nothing? I had to call Honest-1 and ask them to replace it and had to follow up a couple of times before it was important enough to resolve. At that time, I also mentioned the permanent floor mat that was ripped off the carpet. The lady at the front desk apologized. I should have learned my lesson then but needed a mechanic. Then the alternator they installed went bad so I had to have my car towed back to the Honest-1 Auto. While it was there I asked them to check a noise in the front right wheel area. I was told it needed struts. Later, I was forced to drive on an unpaved road due to construction for about a half mile, after that the noise on the right is back and the front end is spongy. (A mile of rough road would not do this.) Then as I was driving the under carriage cover on the front left side was dragging on the ground, I had to pull over on a busy road and push the cover back up into the engine compartment. It is still hanging loose. I have wanted to take the car back and get it fixed but with the disregard for my property, faulty performance and defective parts I am having difficulty doing so, along with the stress of having auto problems and recurring ones at that, possibility of finding another mechanic that won??t be another expensive nightmare, then having my property treated so poorly and still have problems. How can I trust this company? I know my little car isn't much but it's all I have and now I am out the money I paid for the strut job and any repair cost to the undercarriage cover that fell off, the stress of driving a car that is not repaired and finding another mechanic. Not to mention the re-gluing of the car mat. I have written an email to the website email address - we'll see what they do about it. Oh I still trust CarTalk!

Great place, busy, but I guess that is a good sign, but respond quickly, and know what they are doing!

I should have written this review lot sooner but had been putting it off. I am writing this review so other people could avoid this mechanic. I have toyota camry and the power windows stopped working. I took the car to this mechanic after finding him listed in cartalk's website. I went with fully functioning door and just the power switch had to be replaced. It took them more than 4 days and when I got my card back they has damaged my door as it would not lock any more. The mechanics defense was, "well when they work on one part sometimes other part breaks down." I ended up paying for door repair and window repair. Here is the kicker they lost the cover that goes on top of the power window switch. I can not open the power windows from driver side, they have to be opened from passenger side only. To this day my power window switches are missing and not functioning properly. The lady at front desk was unapologetic and extremely rude. I called local toyota dealer and asked them how much it would have costed me to fix this? They quoted me lower price than this shop. Do yourself a favor, avoid this shop.
