Tom (the owner) is about as honest a mechanic as you will find. Th eonly drawback to the place is they are so busy it's sometimes hard to get your vehicle. Once they have it you can be assured of honesty, reliability, and a reasonable price for service. Tom has made me swear off all dealer repairs!

Over the years, I have sent several people to Catstill for work on their vehicle. All have commented they were happy with the work preformed.

I first went to this repair shop under referral of car talk and was extremely satisfied with the level of professionalism and honesty of them.

I have been a customer of Tom's since I moved to Vegas in 1984 and he was working at a garage on the corner of Maryland and Trop. At that time I found him through a AAA referral. I have followed him to two other garages and to two garages that he owned. I have also referred many other friends and co-workers to him. He is the most honest and fair mechanic in this area that I have found. He never tries to pad the bill and only does the work that is necessary. Even if one of his mechanics works on the car, he always checks to make sure everything is good before you pick it up. Even though Tom is Henderson and I live in Vegas (about a 20 minute drive) I still use him for major work that needs to be done on my two Toyotas.

About 6 months ago I had a problem with my 1994 chevrolet S10 pickup truck. Starting motor went bad, I looked up Catskill motors on car talk. Took me a week before I could get a appointment to get new starting motor. Tom is the owner of the shop, nice guy, low key and friendly. Someone you feel at ease with instantly. What surprised me was no paper work when you drop the car off, Ok I am from New York and always a bit suspicious. Next day got a call from Tom the car was ready. You do get paper work when you pick up the car, just none when you drop it off. Now the best part is coming up, about 6 months after the initial starting motor the replacement went bad. Ok the motor had a 1 year, 12000 mile warranty. Again it take a few days to get into the shop,(to me this is a good sign) this time only 4 days. Tom called the next day truck was ready, total for the bill ----zero----. The motor I expected was no charge, but no charge for the labor. I thought that was incredibly generous of him, but he did not know the original motor he put in the truck was bad, I did not know it was bad. It took about 5 minutes of talking to him to convince him to let me pay him for his labor. I do not know many mechanics that warranty their labor like that. We agreed if this motor goes bad, I will take him up the the free labor. He has a customer for life and I will direct anyone I know that has a car problem to his door. I like him and more importantly I trust him.

Tom Hart (owner) said overheat problem caused by faulty electric radiator fan. He replaced and road tested - still overheated. Next he replace radiator and road tested - fixed. He only charged labor once for replacing fan. Car still running fine after returning home to GA.
