Well, the first part of this story this has nothing to do with Dan's Automotive, but earlier this year I was visiting my parents in Hobbs, New Mexico, which is a very far distance from any mechanic who will admit to specializing in anything as high-falutin' as a Mercedes. (Incidently, I got my Mercedes used from a business acquaintance who had more cars than garages; because of his dilemma, he sold me his wife's Mercedes. It is a 1986 420 SEL with over 120,000 miles.) Anyway, there I am in Hobbs, NM in a grocery store parking lot when the car refuses to start and I start to panic. After a towing sled takes the car to essentially the only mechanic in a four county area who will knowingly work on a foreign car, my auto is diagnosed with a bust auto-fuel shut-off relay sensor or some such thing. After a five day wait (including a weekend)they get and install a new sensor and I made my escape with a much lightened bill-fold. In contrast, when my car was droobling coolant everywhere I topped off the reservoir and cautiously limped it to my regular mechanic at Dan's on a friday morning. The problem was instantly diagnosed as a hemorrhaged water pump. They gave me a ride to my office, fixed the car and got my car repaired by mid-afternoon. I picked it up after 5:00 p.m. and made my escape, again with a much lightened bill-fold. In any event, I love my car and appreciate my mechanic who conscientiously and honestly keeps it maintained and running.

Would not recommend them after my latest experience. A friend referred them and the first time I went the guy was very honest and helpful and I recommended them and returned to give them my business. This last time I spent over 850 for repairs and end up having an even bigger problem when I left their shop. Was a different guy that helped so I guess depends on who you get but of course the new issue that I was facing was not their problem or fault. All I know is it worked perfectly fine and I get it back and the part is leaking pretty bad. Not giving my business, recommendations and money to a business like that. My advice is stay away and find a more trustworthy shop. May be better off paying a little more at a dealer rather than taking it to dans and having them fix your issue but at the same time create another issue so you will have to return. Very disappointed and myself and several people I recommended them to will no longer go there for automotive work.
