WHEN I TAKE MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE,I KNOW THAT IT WILL BE DONE CORRECTLY.I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLING FAN AND THE CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT.MY MECHANIC FOUND THE PROBLEM AND CORRECTED IT BY REPLACING THE COOLING FAN RELAY,FIRST HE CHECKED FOR A BLOWN FUSE,THEN CHECKED THE POWER AT THE RELAY.THE COOLING FAN RELAY WAS REPLACED AND WE WERE BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN.

We have been going to Dennis and Joe for about 30 years and although it is pretty far for us now, it's worth the trip. They are experts with foreign and domestic cars, new or old. Local car dealers turn to them when they're stumped! They always explain what they're doing, why, and whether there is a cheaper alternative. Work is always completed on time. Three decades and no complaints!

So, I did a nationwide search for a used Honda Insight in my pricerange and found one quite far away in Paterson, NJ. This was a bit of a challenge, because I didn't know any mechanics in NJ. I somehow remembered about the cartalk mechanics files and took a look. I found Doktor Dutchers to be relatively close by and called them up. Joe answered and actually mentioned he'd gotten a few calls recently from cartalk recommendations. I had a bit of a sticky situation because the dealer I was buying from wouldn't let the car off the lot and I was in CA. However, despite these obstacles, Joe rose to the occasion and took some personal time at home to do some research and drove out to the site the next day. Joe did a full new-purchase inspection (insofar as he could off-site) and gave me very valuable information about the mechanical condition of the sale. Joe even called up the dealer to acquire additional information that he needed to understand the situation. The whole time Joe was very friendly and helpful, even advocating on my behalf and scoping out the seller's place to give me intelligence about how legit. it was. Even though I've never seen Joe or set foot in his shop, I recommend him highly. I couldn't have bought my car without the inspection he performed-- and performed for a reasonable fee.

Dennis and Joe are great. They take the time to explain everything, don't jump to the worst case senario, and go the extra mile to help you. They saved me $740 on a coolant leak, for my 1996 BMW 328is, from what the dealer wanted to charge me.

Joe is by far the best mechanic I've encountered. He really takes the time to explain the problem and will always give me the best, most honest solution. After a dealer told me I needed new front brakes, he checked them out and found there was nearly no wear (car was only about a year old). I would always recommend him over a dealer, and on top of honesty, the prices are always much better. This is a very friendly shop that has been around for over 30 years. They must be doing something right!

I brought in a 2006 Scion for a used car pre-inspection. Service was fast. I felt they were honest and thorough. They explained what they were doing at all times and even fixed a little problem with the windshield wipers for free. I bought the car and would take it back to them if any problems arise. I'll write back if I find out they missed something, But so far so good.

Went in to have them look at a used car I was thinking of purchasing. They gave it a very thorough look-over and gave me sound advice. Definitely a good shop with a knowledge staff. Friendly mechanics. Recommended.
