i bought my first volvo from lew for $400, which is what he said he put into it to fix it. it was a 79 sedan and it ran for many years, i cannot remember now, but it took me from ny to nc more than once a year, while i owned it. he was really great about it when i "arted" it, by covering it with plaid material. when i got this car, it was already close to 20 years old. i no longer live near lew, as a matter of fact, i probably live 150 miles away now and i still take my current volvo to lew. it is cheaper and his work is better. i use to live in hoboken, nj....now i live in montauk, ny. this is the thing about lew.....he is the best at fixing volvos and only that. you have to remind him of stuff. i always left a piece of paper with a list on it of what needed to be done, with my phone number on it. you just gotta take the time with him. i liken it to an idiot savant....and he is well worth the effort. if i want a new part he will do it, if i cannot afford the new one, he will get a used or figure out a way to rig it until i can. he loves to fish, so bring him a lure or two. i have no idea what i would do without him and love him dearly.

I have dealt with Lew for more than 10 years and two Volvos. I have always found him to be an excellent dianostician and he seems to do first quality repair work. At customer option, he will also try to find a good used part where either the cost of the new part is outrageous or the age of the car counsels against such an expenditure. All in all, a great Volvo mechanic. Wish I could find a comparable mechanic for my Honda.

Lew of Lew's Foreign Car Garage I have known and used as my Volvo mechanic since 1981 with my Volvo 245 wagon (and all my subsequent Volvos) which Lewie kept running for more than 520,000 miles without a single breakdown on the road and without any major engine work. Lew is the best I've ever seen when it comes to diagnostic ability and preventive maintenance. He gets it right the first time, every time, and he can do difficult jobs very efficiently. There is a saying that a true expert is someone who knows all the things that can go wrong in their particular field. Lew is just such a person. He always dodges the bad job bullet and does it right the first time every time! He is simply the best there is!

Lew is terrific. He can fix anything on a Volvo. He is much more honest than the Dealer. He promises me 200,000 miles on my 1993 240 wagon.
