Having been in the mechanic business I have a great respect for a mechanic you can trust.

Yes, they're reasonably priced, but it's a 50/50 shot whether they diagnose your car's problem or not. If they get the diagnosis right, then they usually get the repair right.

This station is also a gas station with self and full service lanes. Since I have used their services for over 20 years, the guys know who I am. When I drive up to gas the car (self service lane), usually someone comes out to fill the tank, wash the windows and check under the hood. New employees somehow get the message that I should get the "royal treatment". I love it! I usually have the car checked out if going on a long trip, and there have been times when they would spot something wrong, and fix it immediately--like stopping work on other cars so that mine is fixed immediately. If a part has worn out more quickly than it should, it is replaced at no charge. I like to get good used cars, and will really put the miles on them. The efficient service of this station has allowed me to keep cars until they come close to 200,000 miles or more. I am a firm believer in changing the oil every 3,000 miles, and it works to keep a healthy car. replacement is usually due to an accident!

I have been using their services for over 20 years, and have had my car towed there if out-of-town when a breakdown occurred. They are honest, quick, and if they make a wrong diagnosis, they will correct the error at their expense. if they feel that a part has worn out too quickly, they will replace it. They do much more than what your statement says. There are not many small operations around anymore, but these folks are a godsend.

I always cringe when taking my car into a repair shop, not knowing how bad the bill might be. I have been pleasantly surprised several times by what I saw on my bill at Tommy's shop. When my brakes were squeaking badly and I asked them to check them, I felt sure I'd hear that they needed major work, but these guys were so honest. On at least two different occasions they told me the noise was only due to rear drums which needed tightening/cleaning and my bill was miniscule. I appreciated their honesty so much, especially since my own naievete about cars must be glaringly obvious to any mechanic.

Most of what I would say has been said. I went there over 10 years ago a couple of times and it always stuck in my mind as a good place to go if you are nearby. I had been a college student with little money, but the biggest thing I remember is being treated very well without unnecessary waiting. I was given a very understandable and thorough explanation of the problem. For the record, it is just across Avent Ferry Rd. from Mission Valley shopping center at the intersection with Western Blvd. which borders NCSU.

In my dealings with them, they've always been extremely fair and honest -- even if it means doing so at their own expense. They're close to a bus stop, which was helpful more than once.

this was the second time my miserable 2000 ford focus needed its fuel pump replaced. the price from mission valley was $130 less than the shop in colorado! mission valley said they don't go by the book they just charge for the time it takes.

Tommy and his staff are great! They fix your car, or if they can't, they send you to an equally competent, fair shop that can. They are not going to spray freshener in your car, or provide you with a cup of tea while you wait, but for friendly, competent, timely repair of most automotive problems, these guys are the best! Plus, if the repair is going to cost more that it might be worth, given the value of the car, they tell you that, too, rather than just doing the repair to make some money. The only potential drawback--they are so good that the shop is often busy!
