Auto airconditioning can be a pretty mysterious, expensive repair to have to have made. When mine stopped I took the car to several repair places (including the dealer), paid for an exam and received a "it could be almost anything" response along with a $1000+ estimate. The folks at Four Brothers were clearly different from the minute I started talking to them. They went way out of their way to explain what was going on and what they were going to do to fix it. This was not a mystery to them and they were willing to share their knowledge with me. I was treated as an integral part of the repair effort rather than customer who can only wait in the lobby. And when it still didn't quite get things as cold as it did before it broke they addressed the problem right away. Turned out a heater cable had slipped allowing hot air to blend with the cooled. That was broken before the ac went out. They repaired it for free. The manager's comment: "we deal with the whole airconditioning system. We should have noted that it wasn't working up to par and fixed it as part of the repair." I was and am impressed. I also took it back because of an odd noise that I had not heard before. They took the time to listen, and listen again. It is out of the way. But worth going to.

They replaced an AC compressor and other parts and recharged the system on a 1989 Aerostar at a cost of $1700.00 and also stated that the alternator was bad and should be replaced at a cost of $170.00 plus labor. There was no reason for the alternator to be bad so I said I'd replace it myself. On the drive home I noticed that the battery dropped from 12 volts to about 9 volts and I noticed that when the AC and lights were on there was a slight squeal under the hood. I stopped and checked and found that the belt that drives the alternator and AC was loose, definitely not up to specs. I tightened the belt and drove on home. The battery returned to 12 volts and the van has operated satisfactorily since. I concluded that Don and other three set me up to buy an unneeded alternator, and after I gave them top dollar to fix my AC. They seem to know their stuff, maybe too well. I think a good case of greed has set in and the boys think the rest of us are as stupid as they look.

Four Brothers have worked on a two of my company cars. They are honest, competent. They are also expensive - grab your wallet!

Recommended by another repair shop. I agree with their assessment. My truck is 15 years old and they brought its air conditioner back to life.
