I've used them for years, and trust them much more than the local VW dealerships for servicing my car. They have a top-notch facility for VW, Volvo, and Porsche vehicles (maybe other makes, by now).

I love the guys at Absolute Automotive. They are honest to a fault (they suggested I not make any more repairs on my 1986 Volvo as it wouldn't be worth the $$ in the end) and they explain everything thoroughly, even if you present yourself as a person who doesn't know the first thing about cars. Their prices are extremely competitive and consistently below dealer cost. Best of all, they are really nice guys. Not that that makes much difference in their ability to service your car, but it sure is nice to have a mechanic with a great bedside manner.

I'd go back in a heartbeat. They were quick to diagnose the problems and quick to fix the problems. I hightly recommend these guys for VWs!

Ernie and Evan are the two of the most honest, competent, and trustworthy guys in the auto business. They provide good service at reasonable rates, and offer good, money saving advice. The best thing about them is that they'll tell you when work doesn't need to be done. I would highly recommend them for VW service in Durham.

I brought them my 2002 Passat wagon for a second opinion, after another shop told me I needed a new engine (after only doing a pressure test). They agreed pressure was low, and the engine was sludged, but told me it was worth trying engine cleaner and an oil change. After that, pressure was still low, but the engine was fine. They changed the oil pump, the car is running fine, and I am $5700 richer. They were also great to deal with. The car was towed there, and they called me to tell me it had arrived. They also called with updates, so I never had to badger them about what was going on, unlike other shops I've dealt with.

I found this shop as a recommendation from another listener on the car talk website. This shop works exclusively on Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche only. So when something is wrong with my car there is no guess work or trying something to see if that is the problem. They know their stuff, take the time to discuss it with you and the cost is always what the given estimate is. My Jetta is a 2000 and I have 198,500 miles on it and have no doubt the car will continue to serve me well for sometime to come. Being a woman I appreciate the honesty and integrity because with a car this age I could be told I need a lot of things and I wouldn't know any better. Everyone knows a good mechanic is literally priceless.

I strongly recommend Absolute Automotive. They were honest, never tried to upsell me, and completed the work when they said they would. They only work on certain makes, but they are really good at what they do.
