Fred checks out our vehicles before we purchase them and then keeps them running great for hundreds of thousands of trouble-free miles. His rates are very reasonable -- he does NOT have boat payments to cover -- and he's a genuinely nice guy. P.S. Donuts or other treats are welcomed.

It is always nice to be told an expensive repair is not needed which Fred has done for us in the past!! Fred is very professional and has gone out of his way to help us out on several occasions. We appreciate his service and trustworthy dealings with us. We have tried the rest, but will stick with the best!!!!

Fred NEVER gives condescending opinions (I am female), knows who all his customers are, remembers family members, and sometimes does little things for FREE! Great Guy! Very reasonable-cheap actually. Love the Small Car Clinic.

I went to this shop based on the recommendations from this page. I am giving a Neon to my Father inlaw and I was not willing to spend any more time on it, though I had a few suspicions of what the problem was. The guys at this shop were honest, extremely fast, and very impressive. The two things that stood out the most were the fact that he let the car run for an extended amount of time when the problem didn't pop up at first, and the second was after he called me and got my ok to fix the problems he had it repaired in the matter of a few hours. The only real bummer was I had to wait over a week before they could get me into the shop. An unfortunate side effect of any busy, successful, and honest mechanic.

The transmission in my car failed. I drove it to a mechanic who told me it was the transmission and recommend Small Car Clinic since he did not work on transmissions. I called Fred to tell him that I was having the car towed there for an estimate of what it would cost to repair the transmission. Fred called me back immediately and told me the cost to replace and the reason why the transmission failed- it was down 2 quarts of transmission fluid. Fred was nice enough to let me keep my car on his lot until I decided to what to do. I decided not to fix and to tow it back to my house. When I picked up the car, Fred charged $80.50 for his services - which consisted of adding 2 quarts of transmission fluid and his time. I am not sure why he added the fluid, it was clearly a transmission failure which was already diagnosed by the other mechanic (who didn't charge a dime and took the time to give me some referrals). I have never been charged by a mechanic to get an estimate on something like that. I was very disappointed and couldn't help but feel taken advantage of. I am curious what readers think. By the way, I am female.
