There is nothing about Nissans that this shop doesn't know. They will use junk-yard parts for old beaters if ther customer wants. They are entirely honest and reliable. They have relatively inconvenient hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you haev a Nissan, they can keep it running well.

THESE GUYS ARE SO GOOD THAT I SENT A LETTER OF PRAISE AND A COUPLE OF THEIR BUSINESS CARDS TO THE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXEC OF THE NISSAN CORP IN TOKEO. ITS A VERY SMALL SHOP BUT THEY KNOW ALL THAT THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT NISSAN. I WON'T TAKE MY CAR ANYWHERE ELSE, AND BECAUSE THEY ARE SO VERY GOOD I WOULD HESITATE TO EVER OWN ANYTHING BUT NISSAN.

For the St. Louis Nissan owner, this is an excellent independent shop. Besides doing good work, they can refer to good body or transmission shops. They are located at I- 44 and Arsenal in SW St. Louis.

Didn't know us and yet got us in late on a Friday afternoon and fixed the car, even though it turned out to be a more time-consuming problem than we originally thought. They were very, very, nice. We since have heard from friends who've used them for years that their experience has always been good.

I discovered Franklin Specialists Nissan repair garage 25 yrs ago after buying a used Datsun from friends recommendations. The are real experts witn Nissan/Datsun, give great advice on car mechanics in general. My only complaint is that they only work on Nissans, claiming that car manuals, service bulletins & parts are too complicated for a small shop to keep up on several car manufactures. Thus I have been so completely satisfied with their work and car advice that I have bought several Nissans since then inspite of Consumer Reports rating on Honda & Toyota as better small cars. I am specially gratified with their vastly superior service, their policy of never doing unnecessary repairs or trying to sell other services like many dealership service departments, fairness & honesty. There mechanics are better trained then some at car dealers that now sell dozens of different car lines. Their work is always honest & hassle free and & I have learned much about cars from their explanation of car repairs & how various car parts & components work. I have continued the trend of highly recommending them to anyone I meet that drives a Nissan. Please forward this very satisfied customer testimonial to them since I don't know how to forward a copy directly to them myself from your Car Talk website. Thanks, Rick & Rita LaMonica, St.Louis, MO

My main hesitation in not getting a Nissan with my most recent car was I would no longer be able to use Franklin Specialists. There is absolutely nowhere else that I would take a Nissan in St. Louis. What stronger recommendation can there be to say that the ability to use a certain shop was a factor in deciding what kind of car to buy? The shop is a little weird (plastered with Ross Perot stuff and probably articles on "black helicopters" last time I was there, which was a number of years back) and you were best off not trying to talk to anyone but the woman who worked at the counter. But that was fine, because she was really nice and knew her stuff backwards and forwards. Chances were also good she would remember your name the next time you came in. They will fix your car right, and they will charge 2.00 for a 2.00 fix instead of 200. Wish I still had a Nissan!

Other places either messed up or couldn't fix my 1988 Nissan Pulsar. Franklin made it run great. It wasn't cheap but the car needed alot and I don't think they were unreasonable. If you have a Nissan it's the place to go.
