I've always thought that having a good mechanic was part of the secret to being happy in life. The entire shop at Paul Williams on Lake Street is worthy of commendation; both for saving me lots of money on unnecessary repairs, and for treating me with respect. Tell 'em that Sarah sent you.

These guys are great - they really know their tires and will recomend what you need based on your driving. I've bought tires for three different vehicles, including a 3/4 ton pickup there. I've always felt like I purchased good tires. We take 3 different vehicles there now. Ford Ranger, Toyota Avalon and a Chevy Silverado One of the guys tows a lot of trailers so we go to him for advise on the 3/4 ton that we use to tow horse trailers. The last thing I want is a breakdown with 6000 lbs of horses and trailer somewhere.

I have been going to Paul Williams for nearly 20 years and they have serviced Volvo, Dodge, Subaru, Ford cars for me. Their service has always been outstanding and I have seldom felt disappointed in their work.

I've bought tires from this shop twice now, and they really know their stuff. Mitch, in particular, really knows his tires. I've found their tire prices to be slightly better than the national chains, and their service to be a lot more honest and straightforward (those national chain guys get pressure from the top all the way down to sell, sell, sell expensive maintenance and repairs, a lot of it totally unnecessary, and some even detrimental when they replace good functional OEM parts with "new" rebuilt junk!) Independants like Paul Williams Tire value a long term relationship, and it always shows. I will be going back, probably again and again. If it matters much, they're one of the surprisingly few AAA recommended shops located in Minneapolis. Paul Williams Tire is not in the best looking neighborhood, but it's really not bad. It's basically only one block removed from Uptown. If you're not familiar with the area, take your walk west (toward Lyndale), not east, while your car is being repaired. If you're hungry, there are lots of good places to grab a bite on Lyndale, and if you're thirsty, stop at the Herkimer Brew-Pub for a pint, or the bar at the Fuji-Ya Sushi restaurant.

Not only have they repaired all the things the other shop didn't catch and the ones they didn't do correctly, but they take the time to "talk shop" with their customers when they want to shoot the breeze or when the customer has questions. And they are honest about the problems they find, what repairs can wait and which ones are necessary now. They have squeezed me in for more than one repair or replacement at the last minute or when they're busy. They recognize how to treat a customer and know how to keep them! Dealerships and shoddy, disrespectful repair shops should use Paul Williams as their model for great work and great customer service! They set the standard!

What to say about these guys? They know their tires, they charge reasonable rates, they're friendly, prompt, helpful... What else would you want in a tire shop?

Paul Williams lived up to their reputation with a repair that needed done the day after Thanksgiving 2013. They diagnosed and repaired it when another reputable shop could not after spending plenty of my money and time; without results. These guys are the ones to go to if you have trouble with your valuable equipment. My car was a gift from my Mom and I have the original bill of sale from 2001 1@ $34,000! I want this automobile to run for 4 more years and Paul Williams will help me make that a reality.
