Need to invest in a diagnostics reader. Would save customers from needing to return.

OK, the lot the shop is on is kinda scary, a ramshackle gate and a gravel driveway past what looks like a junkyard of all things VW. But make it in to the shop with your VW, and you'll never go anywhere else. TOTALLY cool and trustworthy. I just moved out of the area and am pining for such a great place to trust my car to. I miss you, Kirk!

Don't be put off by the yard filled will Volkswagens in various stages of decay. All the cars strewn about are a gold mine for anyone who owns an old VW. Family owned/operated, and very helpful. If you own a VW, go no further. This is what I imagine a mechanic's shop being like in the 1940s (a good thing).

The boys at Spring Valley Motors were my mechanics for 10 years or so before I moved from Michigan to Oregon five years ago. I was in Michigan last summer helping my mom move into assisted living-a really difficult time. Her GMC Jimmy needed a lot of work; after spending way too much money on badly done brake job by someone else, I took it to Spring Valley, and it was overhauled within my spending/time range in a week. Not only are they always extremely competent, they are willing to explain, advise, and give customers rides. After several years of being an inner city biker/pedestrian/bus rider, I recently got another vehicle. Can only hope to find a shop of near the quality of Spring Valley here in Portland.

Everyone at Spring Valley has been just great. I've gone to them for the last 10 years, first with my VW and then with my Ford. They do great work, they are very fair with their prices and they don't try to fix things that don't need to be fixed. I will continue to go there each and every time I need work done, because I know my car will get fixed the right way. Kirk is a great guy, and he hires good people to work with, too. I would recommend Spring Valley Motors to anyone who needed work done on whatever car they have.

These guys were honest and explained the issue before they fix the car. We own older cars and it is great to find someone who is honest and doesn't try to rip me off because I am a woman!!!!
