Sal's is a great place to take your car. They are very friendly and very honest. Every time I go in, they tell me straight up how my car is doing, and usually take the time to do a thorough inspection at no extra charge. I look forward to coming back every time.

KC is extremely knowledgeable about cars (imports too) and very good to work with for excellent, fair service. After taking the car in to another shop for a shaky front-end and getting quoted towards $1000 something dollars for 2 new rims and tires because my rims was bent a little, (not to mention they didn't say anything to me about tie rods) I took my 2001 Volvo S40 to Packard Auto Repair (I guess the name changed from Sal's, same mechanics) in a panic to get the front end work done (I found the place by doing a search on my cell phone's navigation). Turns out, I needed the tie rods replaced, and balancing a good, new used tire on the rim would do the trick...They did the work the same day, and they found a good, used tire for me too, and for half the cost of what the other shop wanted to do me in for. The mechanics are friendly and want to make sure the car is in safe reliable condition yet prices are fair. I'm happy and I feel lucky that I found a good honest mechanic in the area.

I brought my Audi A4 to Packard Auto for its 140k mile service and an oil change. I was initially very happy with this shop: they kept me informed of my car's progress throughout the day, including the cost of the necessary repairs. I thought I had found a good mechanic who was honest, competent and wouldn't try to charge me for things I didn't need. Then came the dealbreaker. As I was in the process of handing over my hard-earned $800, the guy behind the counter took it upon himself to tell me a lengthy anecdote starting with, "Women know nothing about cars." I'm a car enthusiast. I know more than the average guy on the road, especially about my Audi A4. I picked the 2.8L V6 30 valve engine because it's more reliable than the 1.8, and I know that I'll need a timing belt soon (it was last changed about 60k ago) because the A4 has an interference engine that will turn itself into spaghetti in seconds if the timing belt snaps. I know it's a tedious job that involves taking apart the whole front end of the car and that you might as well change the water pump, tensioners, serpentine belt and whatever else you can get your hands on while you're at it, so you don't have to turn your car into a pile of lego blocks more often than necessary. Need I go on? As a woman, I encounter a lot of ignorant behavior from mechanics, dealers and even used bike salesmen (a story for another day). But never have I had somebody look me in the eye and tell me, "Women know nothing about cars." So I'm taking my business elsewhere. Packard Auto, you know nothing about customer service.

Great auto repair shop in Ann Arbor ---I've been here 3 times already and every time been very happy. This latest visit I actually broke down in the 94 highway the hand called them for towing. Their service is always prompt and very fair priced, which is rare in my experience with A2 auto repair shops. The manager KC is also always very friendly and they give you regular updates by phone if you are not there in the shop. Overall always a good experience and I can recommend them for auto repair and towing with smile thanks packard auto
