I bought a 15 year old toyota. The woman who sold it to me took it to Select Auto on Platt, and got an estimate for the things that were wrong with it. At AA Muffler, they gave me a much more reasonable price, and had things done very quickly. They were pleasant and honest, and took a lot of time to show me each and every thing that was wrong with my car. On a small student income, I needed to take care of immediate repairs now. They were honest about what would hold out and what wouldn't. Good experience overall.

Everyone at this shop is exceptionally honest, forthright, kind, and good-humored -- very good for brake work as well as exhaust problems. Their prices are fair, they take the time to explain things thoroughly even to the uninitiated, and the work is done in an efficient and thorough manner. Their wonderful employees, Ivory, has been there for many years, and is a lovely, gentle, intelligent and thoughtful man; he is a pleasure to work with, as is his colleague Jerry. I actually look forward to going there when I have muffler and brake issues.

Friendly, polite, efficient service. They took the time to tell me what was wrong and what choices I had, and the prices (I drive what I affectionately call a beater).

Great to do business with.

I've taken a Honda Accord, Jeep Cherokee, Pontiac Grand Prix and Toyota 4Runner to this shop. These guys are well trained and their mechanics have all been there for 12+ years. That's the first sign of a great shop. I've dealt with Ivory and Scott, who run the shop, and both are great guys. They will always tell it to you like it is. You might not like what they have to say, but you can trust it. I can't tell you how many times they've checked out my cars, and told me there's nothing wrong with it or that it just needed a minor part or adjustment. I recently bought a used 4Runner. They took 45 minutes to give the car a once- over, just to make sure it was in good shape. They gave it a clean bill of health, yet didn't charge me for their time. They know they'll get the business when it does need work. They've earned my trust. If they say I need some work done - - and it's going to cost $250, $500, or what have you -- I make sure to get it done. This is always the first place I take my car. But the great thing is they'll refer you to mechanics if my car needs something they don't do (i.e., transmission, heavy engine work, etc). Every person they've referred me to has been an outstanding mechanic in their own right. If you need a mechanic, and Ann Arbor Muffler and Brake is remotely convenient, you simply have to take your car there. You won't regret it.
