We have an '84 Volvo GL with 260K and the mechanic is very knowledgeable and willing to try whatever is needed to keep us on the road without biling us for every minute and phone call trying to find parts (used or rebuilt) to keep the cost down. I also have an audi '83 that he has done free estimates and advised to live with the problem rather than fixing a problem that I was willing to deal with.

I was being ripped off by another repair shop and being a woman this is my biggest fear. I was told about Phil's, and thank god I did. Phil's told me that there was no evidence of what the other crappy repair shop was telling me was wrong with it...The other guys quoted me $2,400...my new quote is THOUSANDS less! So yeah...go there!

Phil's replaced the steering rack on our '99 Jetta about a year ago for less than half the price that the dealer wanted using the same OEM parts. They took the time to explain everything and answer all of our questions. We're very pleased and plan to continue to give Phil's our repair business.

Best - as in most trusted (honest), reliable, reasonably-priced, pleasant (a real gentleman) - automobile mechanic I've ever had (and I'm 55; from New York City). I've been taking my cars here for the last 4-5 years and wouldn't consider taking them anywhere else; at any price! I'd give Phil's Foreign Auto, and the owner Bruce Ordway, 6 stars if I could... If that's not endorsement enough, I don't know what is.

They do good work and I never feel like I am making unnecessary repairs. One caveat - they are VERY popular, so you cannot be in a hurry. They open at 8:30 and if you want to be seen on the day you booked, you better be there at 8:15, as they seem to 1) Overbook and 2) be fairly optimistic in how long the repairs will take. My last experience was originally "end of day", then "mid-day day #2" and finally "end of day day #2". And I am pretty certain that if I hadn't called for updates, they would have just let it ride until Day #3 . . . But mechanics of this quality, honesty and price are pretty few and far between, so it is 100% worth that minor inconvenience.
