Nick and the guys who work for him have always treated us ever so nicely-from backing their work on a rebuilt starter that proved to have a few problems of its own(and not charging us the difference when he needed to install a better unit) to recommending a great auto body guy down the street we would have never heard of; from not seeming surprised when our car materialized on a Monday morning after a sudden breakdown Saturday night, and fitting us in that day, to giving accurate information on problems and cures that never has failed us yet. We would take our varied junkers(all right, 3 Escorts and a '69 Volvo) nowhere else in Greater Portland!

The first vehicle we took there was a mercury topaz. We had problems with the alternator belt and everywhere else we went couldn't find the problem and one even tried to convince us it was the power steering unit. Nick found a weak part supporting the alternator and rigged one of his own. We never had a problem with that again. And have trusted him ever since.

This shop has honest, competent mechanics running a frugal shop. There are not a lot of frills here and they reflect that in their prices. If you just want someone to maintain/fix your car this is the place in the Portland area.

Auto Tech is the BEST Auto Repair Shop in New England. They have two advantages in a business full of dishonest incompetents. They are very very good mechanics and they are honest. I have been using Nick and Phil for over 20 years and they are the best.

Had 30K checkup on my Elantra- 1/2 price Hyundai quoted, plus Nick and Gary are always fun to be around. Nice shop, very nice mech's and always honest. Started with them before I retired and went to Florida, glad they could do the work while on vacation back in Maine. My sons now use them, and some friends. Thanks.

I have lived all over the country and one of the most difficult things to find is a good trustworthy mechanic. By accident I found this Car Talk website, which led me to Auto Tech and Electric. My old car was making a noise that I thought was due to bad spark plugs. After looking at it, they determined the noise was from the transmission. They made a call to a transmission place and got me an estimate. They estimate was over $4500. Without even asking for his opinion, Nick told me it wasn't worth fixing and that I would be better off trading it in for a new car or selling it. I asked for his opinion on what used cars I should look at and without hesitation, he gave great advice. I only paid $40 for him to look at my car. The service and advice I was given was worth way more. If you live in the Portland area you should go to this mechanic. They are probably the best and most honest mechanics that I have come across in all the places I have lived in the country.
