Bruce is a great neighbor to all his customers in our small town of both year-round and summer residents -- honest, fair and caring.

Terry - Bruce's "main man" - is technically the better of the two, but between the two of them I have not been able to take a problem there that they could not fix. Bruce's longest-running annoyance is the fact that one or two times out of five, the parts suppliers send the wrong thing--even when they have the VIN and all other information. This slows down the progress of the repair and frustrates everyone. I don't hold it against him, even when it means my vehicle doesn't get finished today. He has personally driven me home when I left my vehicle or loaned me one of his trucks when I needed to do something. I try to use his services because it is a REAL convenience having a reliable garage right here in Lovell. He is there at 6:30-7 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. That's OK. Once, when my need was great, he kept on until 4:20 p.m. and he finished my vehicle. AND, he takes a week off in the fall to go deer hunting. That's OK too. Everyone should be able to have a life after work!

I feel the need to point out that Thurstons does not treat all customers the same. We had such an awful experience that we now do all we can to make sure our friends and family do not surrender their cars to this shop. All my husband needed was a caliber replacement on the rear driver's side. They gave him an estimate and told him it would take no more than a day. Fair enough. They ended up keeping the car for over a week, and when we would call they'd say "we haven't gotten to it yet" or, "they sent the wrong part". I understand that sometimes mechanics receive the wrong parts, but three times? I don't think so. When we finally got the car back, the bill came out to be almost four times what we had agreed on. They made excuses, we just paid and vowed to never use them again. Well, about a year later, the same caliber went kaput. We took it to a different shop, and the mechanic was appalled at how sloppily it had been installed and was amazed the car had driven so well for that long after. We contacted Thurston, they denied any errors made and insisted we 'trashed our own car'. This car is my husband's baby- he takes very good care of it. Again, they may be great with some customers, but I wager that the people with good experiences know the shop owner personally. He picks and chooses who to treat well, and who to screw over. We will never bring another vehicle there as long as we live in the Lovell area.
