Bought my car from them because I was told by other customers how honest they are and it's true. Would buy another car from them.

I have a right hand drive Subaru (mail car)1991, that needed a new transmission. They are impossible to find, but they found one! They put in a transmission from a rear ended (totalled) 96 Subaru that had 60,000 on it. They did it in record time too, as I need my car back ASAP for work. Total cost, including labor??? $800 bucks. Cant beat that.

I dropped in out of the blue with a front end noise. They put it on the lift immediately saying "Front end noises can be caused by something that might come up and bite you". It turned out to need pads and rotors. I said OK, and can you do an oil change and check the fluid levels while it's up on the lift? They said OK, offered me a loaner so I could get my shopping done, and had it finished in 2 hours for barely more than the Subaru dealer in town wanted for the parts alone. This fall the Camry goes, and I'll buy an Outback from these guys before another Maine winter sets in.

They take great care of my 10 year old Subaru. They are very professional and I can always count on my problem being solved quickly and being billed fairly. They have loaner cars available which makes having work done hassel free. I recommend them highly!

Couldn't ask for a more competent, honest, fast shop. Even the jokes are ....well...not too bad. Many drumrolls. Will get our next Forester from Peter ! Only problem: Out 'O Town is in the middle of the boonies 1/2 way between Bucksport and Ellsworth. BUT-they usually have a loaner.

Boonies indeed--waaayyy out on Route 1. BUT--just look for the world famous Chicken Barn Antiques. This is a shop that Tom and even maybe Ray NEED to visit (we'll even put one of then up; no pasta included. So why is Out 'O so good ? After negative dealer experiences they do the right needed repair IF needed, will tell you "not to worry...don't spend the $$$", give you a free loaner if the job takes more than a couple of hours, AND, if their repair doesn't do what it should, they will without question or cost do it over. Both of us Subaru owners love Jim and Peter. Hey, we even bought a 2005 Outback from Peter. Did I say that I'm biased ?

As a one time sports car mechanic I'm pretty fussy about who works on my cars. When my Subaru needed new head gaskets I shopped around quite a bit before choosing Out of Town Auto. From the moment I walked in the door I had a good feeling about this garage and whoever I asked about the place spoke highly of the owner and his mechanics. One mechanic friend told me that Rob is probably the best Subaru mechanic in this part of Maine. Better yet while the local Subaru dealer wanted close to $2,000 for the job Out of Town Auto did it for slightly more than half that price. Better yet, they provided a free loaner car for the day it took to complete the job! Best of all when one of the replacement head gaskets failed a month or so later they pulled the head and replaced the gasket No Questions asked and No Charge. I've been a loyal customer ever since and the more I get to know these guys the better I like them. Imagine my dissapointment when driving past their old location a few weeks ago I saw an empty lot and a abandoned building!!!! When I told my wife about it she said, "Give them a call, maybe they just moved." I don't always follow her advice but this time I did and I was happy to discover that they had indeed just moved to a new location on the Bucksport Road much closer in to downtown Ellsworth. And what a place they moved to! Many times larger than their old place with a great showroom/waiting area complete with a replica Ford Cobra roadster! And a huge service area with multiple lifts...the kind of workshop any decent mechanic would kill for!
