Honesty AND competence are not always found in the same mechanic. This is a team of really good folks. One has his engineering degree from Wentworth. They give a "preferred customer" discount if you take your business to them regularly.

For my Mazda, this shop saved me hundreds, possibly thousands, or dollars. The Mazda dealer had looked at my five speed shifting problem and told me he needed to take out the transmission and check it to see what was wrong. That would cost 3 or 3 hundred. Depanding on what was found, the entire transmission might have to be replaced, costingthousands. I got a 2nd opinion at Quality Muffler around the corner. The mechanic there listened to what I told him of the symptoms. He figured out that the automatic transmission fluid put in at the factory for the colder climate might be responsible. So he drained that and replaced it with the normal shift transmission stuff (what is that, 90 weight?). It cost me about 50 bucks, including the labor, and it has worrked right ever since (about a year.)

Quality Muffler is now owned and operated by Don Foshay's Discount Tire, which has a somewhat iffy reputation locally. *IF* Foshay kept the old staff, the place should still be good, but I have heard he dumped the old timers and brought in a bunch of kids (they work cheaper).
