I don't know about all the questions you asked above, but these guys, Don and Adam, are just plain good mechanics, and honest as the day is long. I have any number of times brought them what I thought was a problem and they told me that I needed to turn off the radio and/or turn on my hearing aids, and take my wife to dinner with the money they didn't charge me. I have even called them on the phone once to come and tow my car to the shop, and after asking some questions, told me to go get a new battery. My wife drove her car in to their place and asked them to fix something and they told her to take it to the dealer because it was still under warranty. Considering how some mechanics would handle those problems, these guys are saints. Adam, the young guy, drove my car three feet and said I needed a new wheel bearing, then around the block and said maybe two, giving me a "rough" estimate of $250 each. I said drain and flush the tranny fluid and inspect it too. They said drain only, Hondas shouldn't be flushed. They put my CR-V on the lift and called me to tell me the good news, only one wheel bearing was bad, but the bad news - my vehicle had not been legally registered for a month and a half and they couldn't give me a new sticker. My only complaint about them is that they once asked me to watch for a socket and extension which they couldn't find and figured it was lost on the chassis somewhere. This made it really difficult driving home because it was hard to watch the road in front and back at the same time. I decided that it would be safer if I would just buy them a new socket and extension. I always did my own work on cars for many years until all the computers and testing equipment became necessary to have to be a mechanic, and well, my back was aching from having to lie on the ground too. But I then was dissatisfied by any number of guys I went to for various reasons. In a word, Center Street Auto are mechanics you can swear BY, not AT.
