I took my car to a large chain where I was told that I needed over $1,000 of brake work. A friend recomended Gary's where they fixed my brakes (correctly) for $210. I have been dealing there for two years and the estimates are always to the penny when I pick my car up. Everyone there goes out of the way to accomodate me, including staying for a half hour after closing one friday night so that I would'nt be without my car over the weekend. My car is always fixed right and I don't hesitate to recomend them!

Finding a mechanic your trust is one of the hardest things to do when you move. We found a good one in Laurel, Gil Santos, who was Brazilian and had been the head mechanic for a large Subaru agency before going out on his own. He often charged too little, I thought, for the quality of his work. But one day, he was gone. No explanation, nothing. We think the INS caught up with him. We went to Gary because we knew and liked his daughter, who worked where my wife had a studio. It was only by accident that she mentioned that her Dad was a mechanic. Because of her honesty, we figured her parents were, too, and they were. It was Gary who told us that our Subaru had reached the point at which he could make more money from it than we would get in value; when asked, he named used car agencies _he_ would trust, and we have been very satisfied with the pickup we got there. We have stayed with him even after moving to another town. My wife recently ran that truck into a tree in a way uncovered by insurance. Gary kept down the costs, even on stuff (frame and body work) he farmed out, because it was coming out of our pockets. People who know more about cars than I do say that for the amount of damage (frame alignment, radiator replacement, front end, bumper, hood, and fender body work, lights, etc.) an insurance company would easlily have paid twice what we did. We shall continue using this shop until either he dies or we do (and we've got a couple decades head start).

One those rare shops were you can take your car and feel as if they really care about the quality of work they do, and they will always charge a reasonable price. Both Gary Sr. and Gary Jr. are excellent mechanics, and Gary Sr's wife Beverly is real part of the team. Best garage I have ever found.

We have been to many mechanics in the Laurel area, and can say without reservation that Gary's Automotive is the BEST! We have had numerous problems with mechanics who overcharge, misdiagnose, and break things. Never have we had a problem with Gary's. The staff is friendly, informative and competent. Their prices are very reasonable, and we recommend them without reservation.

I'm a single parent who started going to Gary's when recommended by anothe single parent. Gary's will provide full service so you don't have to run around, also specials that they e-mail to you. I particularly appreciate that they examine the entire car i.e. bulbs, etc. and go ahead and fix them without my pointing them out. Gary's is also not afraid to lecture you on car abuse and neglect, of which unfortunately, I've been guilty. I know that these things would not endear a garage to many people, but it has made me feel cared for.

I've started going to Gary's Automotive, after several bad and over priced repairs by " Over Rated Shops", I've always felt I was over paying for minor services, every oil change I could alway's count on a $200.00 or more bill. I've learned because the shop owners are in the paper for the community service thay give or awards from garage station assoc. are not always the best. Beleive me you will PAY for the best. At Gary's at least I know I'm treated fairly and pay for the services I really need. I thank mf Freind Kathy for reffering Gary's to me. REALLY GREAT PEOPLE!

I found Gary's through these Car Talk pages and haven't regreted going to his shop. It's not terribly convenient for me to go there (I live in Columbia, he's in Laurel), but I feel it's worth it for anything other than oil changes. They've always been on time, done the work I needed, and charged a fair price. It felt like the bill was $600 no matter what at the shop I went to previously.
