I was across the street from Maish's when my jeep would not start. I was not happy as it had died the three days earlier in a town near by. The starter was replaced by another shop. Maish's mech came over and try to jump it, no go. I walked back the Maish's and called the OTHER shop. Oh they'd be down sometime that day (it was early Monday morning). Here I am stuck in front of the gas pump at a gas station and they'll be down when they get around to it! Maish's towed to their shop and checked it out. It was a loose wire to the starter. They repaired it and charged me very little. Thanks Maish's for the great job.

My boyfriend and I live near Maish's and have had both routine/maintenance and repair service -- including major repairs -- completed there many, many times since 2003. We both have older (1995 and 1999), high-mileage (225,000 and 110,000!) cars, one domestic (Ford Explorer) and one foreign (Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon), and Maish's has competently addressed our many mysterious and varied automotive problems (collectively involving almost every major system within a car) over the years. Maish's is a true family business; you get extremely personal and attentive service from people who remember you and your car and take the time to explore your car problem and explain answers and alternatives throughly and honestly in a way that can be understood by non-mechanics. They are very upfront when they will have to use deductive reasoning and "detective work" to solve a problem, and they always encourage you to seek another opinion if you feel uncomfortable. Their prices are extremely reasonable for both parts and labor and they turn around work very quickly, communicating and clearing everything with you along the way. They will err on the side of not costing you a lot of money and definitely do not encourage you to replace or repair things unnecessarily or prematurely. Maish's recently moved to a new facility a little farther away from Camden Yards -- they are now basically at the intersection of Russell (Greene) and Mulberry. The facility is very nice: it has great equipment and a pleasant waiting area. Although the neighborhood can look a little bit run-down for one or two blocks before you get into the Medical Center and UMD area, it is bustling with cars and pedestrians and not unsafe, in my experience, to walk through during regular weekday business hours (which correspond to Maish's hours of operation). It is easy to walk or take a bus or cab to the inner harbor area, the train stations or airport, or wherever you need to go while your car is being fixed.

This is a family run business and are always looking to provide value to their customers. They are walking distance from downtown and very good about explaining the work needed and options. I switch from a mechanic near my house because of inconsistency of service and overcharges on parts and labor. Maish's prices a very fair and the work is excellent. What else can you want. And if you bring it there in morning and pick it up at 4:30pm you've saved your self the cost of parking downtown.

As a single mid-20s female, I am always skeptical about whether or not I'm getting ripped off by a mechanic. I felt completely comfortable at Maish's, they did a great job fixing my car, and explained everything to me in detail. The problem didn't happen all of the time, but they worked it through and found out what it was, which the shop around the block didn't do, but charged me for other things that weren't the problem. I trust Maish's very much and will always go back as long as I live here!

They got me in the day I called, were super helpful, and fixed everything they could that day for a very reasonable price, and I was in and out in under 90 minutes. I will be going back next time I need work done, no doubt. They're a couple blocks away from Lexington Market so if you need lunch...

They are great! They will call you before any repair is made, quote you the price, and explain everything that needs to get done and all the tests they have done. I am young female, and they are always respectful and patient with my questions. I am so happy I found them using this site. I strongly recommend them.

These guys are great! They always fixed up my car quickly, and for a reasonable price. I used them for about 3 years, and never had an issue. I always felt like they were being honest (even to me, a mid-20s female), and they always managed to get my car properly diagnosed. They even fixed a dent for free after they overheard me talking to the receptionist about it. They'll pick you up/drop you off if necessary. They've even given me a free tin of cookies during Christmas time. I'm moving away & am very sorry to leave Maish's behind!

I have come to Maish's a couple of times after seeing the reviews here. The first time was for addressing issues from a safety inspection. They did the work quickly and at a fair price. I came to Maish's again when I heard my car making a new noise. I told them I think it is X, I've heard this sound before. They called me back saying it was Y and I authorized the repair. When I picked up my car, I still heard the noise so I brought it back. What is it? Y they said! When I brought the mis-diagnosis to their attention, they shrugged it off and said X needed to be done anyway, didn't we show you the old part? (They didn't)! I feel annoyed- I don't believe they were trying to be dishonest, but why didn't they listen to my hunch?
