From the outside you might not think too much of the place, as it is just one garage of many on a road in Wilmington filled with repair, parts, and body shops. But let me tell you its not what is on the outside of the shop that matters, its the people who work there. Unique Import Autos is the real deal. This is the kind of repair place that all car owners wish for. Mike and his mechanics are EXACTLY the kind of guys for whom this web site was created. The previous poster's recommendations and evaluations were spot on. Mike is honest and upstanding. When he makes a quote he sticks by it. He takes the time to show you exactly what the problem is, and gives a very fair price on the repairs. I took my Corrolla in for a break job, and Mike and his crew went above and beyond to identify exactly which parts of my break system were working and which weren't, and to replace only those things that needed replacement. While I was waiting, several local people with excellent knowledge of cars came to HIM- for advice about the cars they were repairing at other locations. This is the kind of mechanic you want to have, a mechanic to whom other mechanics turn to when they have problems. I also noticed his lobby is filled with framed letters of thanks and commendation from the many people he has helped over the last ten years, several of them were quite striking. In this day and age you would be hard pressed to find a better man, or a better shop then Mike and Unique Import Autos. Make this your shop even if you don't live close by. It's worth the trip. Your car will thank you.

I was referred to Mike Sciarra, the proprietor, when my Subaru was diagnosed as needing a new engine and I wanted a second estimate. He explained that because of the engine design, sticky lifters/valves were common in Subarus. He flushed the oil twice and recommended using winter-weight oil year round. He COULD have gotten several grand for an unnecessary engine replacement. I got several more years out of the car, until it failed inspection when the undercarriage rusted out. Also, a framed article from the local paper, from when he first opened the shop, noted that many customers followed him to his new place, which was noteworthy since he had previously worked for a shop in Belmont, a good distance away. An Italian immigrant, Mike always displays a continental courtesy to women, even while being terse with his employees.
