Westport is a one horse town, so he can afford to charge WAY too much for the labor. Aside from that, he is competent and has never NOT fixed the problem.

I took my '05 VW Passat to Village Garage for a second opinion after the Barry VW dealership diagnosed my car (smoking from rear, burning smell) as needing a new turbo, which would cost $1700 and take 4-5 days to complete. John and his mechanics had a completely different diagnosis: a plugged breather screen, and after clearing the screen and replacing the air filter, the car was done, $141 and one hour later. John is honest, straight talking, and wants to be helpful by doing what's right for the customer. He saved me from spending nearly $1600 more than was necessary to get my car fixed, and from replacing parts that didn't need to be replaced. They replaced the only thing that really needed to be changed: the air filter.

We have used the Village Garage for routine oil changes and maintenance, for the purchase of new tires and, in one instance, for replacement of a damaged wheel. Their work is excellent and they are friendly people to work with. The Village Garage is a specialist in servicing and working on Volvos. I recommend them highly.
