We've been going to Frankie for several years, dating back to when we lived near his shop in Somerville (actually on the Medfuh side...). He is the owner, and although he can be a bit pricey, we think that he is worth it due to his honesty and competency.

Frank and his crew are great. Frank is up front and honest and goes out of his way to make sure customers get their cars in and out of the shop in time. He will also pick you up from the T station if you can't get there! This is a great group of mechanics who know cars (not just certain makes and models) inside and out. I have an older car, and I trust these guys to keep it runnning like new!

Hillside Auto is one of the cleanest, most organized independent shops you will find. The owner is friendly and most of the repairs I have had performed there were done well. I have found pricing to be higher than average, however -- generally as expensive as or more so than a dealer. In addition, no effort was ever made to find me less expensive (rebuilt) parts. In addtion, when I asked to have my tires rotated after a brake inspection, I was charged for the rotation even though it incurred no extra labor. These are fairly minor points, but I believe it is what makes Hillside Auto a good but not great repair shop.

I have been to Hillside for problems ranging from engine problems to brakes to tire repairs. The guys here are very professional, going above and beyond the call of duty to get your car fixed right as quick as possible. I highly recommend them.

I was driving to work one morning when my serpentine belt slipped off. Luckily Hillside was right nearby. I brought it in, and they had me fixed and back on the road without even being too late for work! Thanks, guys!
