Not the cheapest, but have never had to go back to have the same problem fixed twice. Most of the time, I've picked up the car without paying until later, because he was too busy finishing other work that needed to be delivered that day. (Always seems concerned that the job is done when promised.)

saying that matt hebert is a fantastic mechanic is no small thing, especially from someone who is tough to please when it comes to his car. two years ago i purchased a passat and was very hesitant to let any shmuck work on it so i was left to take it to the dealer until i found someone reputable. (this of course had its own problems). i have taken my car to matt many times and each time he works to solve the problem in the way that best meets my need, whatever that may be. he has done everything from showing me the problem while the car is up on the lift to saying that the problem is not a problem to worry about, let alone pay to fix. he has never tried to make me feel like i was getting some outrageous bargain by letting him fix the thing, instead i know that he'll do the job right. in my mind, paying the cost of a quality repair is worth more than having someone else do the job for a couple bucks less. having said that, he hasnt charged me a dime when he thought that the job wasnt done 100%- he is willing to admitt a mistake. eventhough it takes me 35 minutes to get to his shop and finding a ride is often difficult, i prefer to trust whoever i am paying to work on my car. he may seem a bit dark and cynical at first, but thats just part of his charm. an honest-quality mechanic.

Willing (and able) to work on exotic European cars. Methodical, thorough...well worth the wait.

For years I've been telling friends that I would trust Matt with a blank check and I stand by that today. He is a good man and a great mechanic who will get the job done right. He's packed and he's basically a two man operation. I have moved to Providence and still bring my car to him for work even though he's about 50 minutes away driving down 44.
