I've been going there for more than 25 years now, and they've always been absolutely trustworthy and competent. They've often told me that I didn't need to have work done that I was asking for, or else pointing out how I could take care of it myself (once they knew that I did some auto work). I've mostly had older cars, and they've always tried to make things work without expensive replacements of things that needed only minor repair.

A little hole in the wall garage with good mechanics. They are honest and treat you well. Trouble is you most likely have to call ahead and check because there is usually only one guy on service but weekends are best for them.

This is a small one-man shop that we have used for about 15 years. The owner seems to know what he is doing, is extremely pleasant and responsive, and very honest. Example: a few years ago, our Subaru station wagon failed its Massachusetts inspection because of an exhaust problem. My wife took the car to a local chain (I won't give the name, but it rhymes with Widas), where she was told that we would need to replace the entire exhaust system at a cost of over $1000. We took the car to Rider's for a second opinion; they patched a small leak in the tailpipe for $40, and we had no further trouble as long as we owned the car. Highly recommended!

Larry did a reasonably good break job on my Volvo, but when it came to some suspension and steering work - which is complicated on a Volvo, I found he fell short. Larry specializes in Fords, and I got the feeling just looking around his lot, that that is most of his business. Larry is very personable, honest, and sounds pretty technically sound, but next time I'm going to take my Volvo business elsewhere.

Rider's Repair is in South Natick, right on the Wellesley line. Beautiful area. My wife and I have been using Larry as our mechanic for 23 years. We followed him from the dealerships he was with in Wellesley and Acton over the past decades. At one point we had a persnickety Volvo the dealership gave up on and Larry found the wiring concern right away. We are very fortunate to have such a trustworthy mechanic. This shop is like stepping back in time to an old fashioned Mayberry RFD auto shop. You can't get more personable service. If you want an auto repair center you can trust wholeheartedly with all of your car needs, this is it!
