Lawrence is full of scary auto shops, but I trust Larry's. They are older, professional mechanics that are in the business for the long haul, not to make a quick buck. They tell me when I need to fix things versus when I can let it wait. They tell me if I can use an aftermarket part or if I really need OEM. If I think I had let something wait, they remind me that they did it last time rather than redo it (like a set of front brakes, really). They aren't cheap, but they don't charge book value for their time - they charge the time it takes (usually less). If they have to rip your engine apart to get to some tiny thing in the middle, they look around to see if there is anything else they can fix while there, saving you money in the long run. They don't have a body shop, but they have one they trust and work with for extensive repairs. They can work with you on the drop off and pick up hours, provided you have a spare key. If they were a nanny, I would send them my kid.
