Several years ago, we had a 10 year old Honda Civic which would at random and very occasionally on winter mornings, blow all of the oil out of the engine! Over a period of 2 years, we took the car to 3-4 Honda dealers and couple of other mechanics (while keeping a few cans of oil in the back!). None could solve the problem (although they tried various fixes). Finally, one of the Honda dealers referred us to Richard. I called him up and after explaining the details as we knew them, he said "Oh, I can fix that in a few minutes. But you can do it yourself and here's how..." It turned out that there was an emissions hose coming off the top of the engine which would, during cold nights, condense water in a low point in the hose. If it froze fully, pressure would build up in the engine, leading to the rapid oil loss. He knew enough to diagnose this over the phone (and he was correct)! After that, he serviced our Honda and always did an exceptional job. My only wish is that he worked on Subaru's (our current cars).

I had one shop tell me I needed a whole new engine ($1700) and another tell me I needed a new carburator ($700)when I heard about this guy. He found out it was the base gasket on the carburator and some spark plug wires and fixed everything, changed my oil and gave me a loaner for a day for a little over $200. He's continued to be as honest and capable since then. (3 years)

Only Hondas. Uses genuine Honda parts. Shop is squeeky clean. Has loaner cars available, always clean and in great shape. My 1988 Civic 4WD wagon has 276,400 miles, and has been in Richards' care since birth. Richard's wife handles the office; pleasant, polite, totally charming.

Second recommendation - My 1988 CIVIC now has 310,000 miles, and Richard has tended it since birth. He has replaced a clutch, brake pads, ball joint & exhausts. That's it. Shop is squeeky clean. Excellent loaners available. Mrs. Bottego handles the office; always pleasant, polite & totally charming. Specializes in Hondas, but now works on most Japanese cars. --------------- This is the ONLY place to bring your car.

Richard is a pleasure to deal with. Very honest, nice guy. Great quality work. Being a women some unsavory mechanics have "seen me coming" and taken advantage. This has never been the case with Richard. We need more guys like him!!! 2008

Richard did a great job on my brakes for the price he quoted me. He was fast and very nice. This was my first visit to him but it will not be my last!

A friend highly recommended Richard's Auto to me, and I was SO pleased! He even went the extra mile to suggest and then find an "idiot bell" for me since I kept leaving my lights on and wearing out the battery (I left for work before dawn and got there when it was light and didn't notice my lights were on). He and his wife make a great team: they both take time to remember people! As others have said, it's the ONLY place to bring your Honda (and other cars, too, I hear!)

I never have had the chance to use Richard to repair my Chevy but when I told him about a friend needing money for a stem cell transplant, he anted up $100 for someone he has never met. Thank you again (and she survived the cancer, got married and is having a great life!)

I can not say enough good about this shop. We have an Acura Legend which they have been working on for years. Every so often, I take the car to them and ask them to go through the entire car to see if anything needs fixing. Granted, this is one of the best cars ever built, but when I do this this they come back with very little replaced. When one goes in to them and after you tell them what you wish for them to do, they usually ask you how much you wish to spend. I have always given them "No LIMIT" Please fix everything and replace what is wearing out. I guess I should explain that this car is for my daughter who is in college, and when she goes away I want to be assured that nothing will go wrong with the car. Many times the bill is for less than $100.00!! They give you a check list of every thing that they look at. I don't know if anything that they don"t look at. It's a long list. They could really take me , but I know they will never. They are the most honest guys on earth.
