John is a good guy and did a fine job fixing numerous problems on my Subaru wagon. He even saved me money by buying some good rebuilt parts. Their prices were reasonable and I was convinced they were being very honest about the problems that needed to be fixed.

These guys are great, They have taken very good care of the two jettas i have owned (the first one needed alot of TLC). They have always been helpful in explaining what is wrong with my care and never treated me like a dumb woman. I am even thinking of having my care towed there when i need repairs, even thought i live near boston now.

Friday night & Huge snowstorm's on the way. I decide to make a quick run to the grocery. I come back out & my ignition key absolutely will not budge, no matter what I do. I try lots of things and finally give up & call AAA who say they will surely take my car somewhere, but it is after hours & there are only limited places they can leave it. I say what about Pelham Auto. AAA says OK. Monday morning I call Pelham Auto. They say, um, well, actually we don't work on American cars. I say "oh, shoot." They say, but what's wrong with it. I tell them & they say, well, it probably isn't much different from an [I forget what car they named]. We can do it. The part comes & they fix my car, no treating me like an idiot, no charge for storing it, no muss, no fuss. Too bad they don't work on American cars.

These guys have always been good to me and my cars. I am a musician and am usually the last owner of most of my cars and they 1) check them out and 2) keep them running for me. They look at them and tell me 1) what to fix first and 2) how long I can run them before having to fix them. This allows me to budget over a 6-12 month period what will have to be done. They are always honest, bending over backwards to save me money whenever they can. "This is cosmetic" they say, "you dont need to fix it," knowing I am looking for basic, reliable transportation, not a status car that needs the highest trade in possible. I have them do a buyer's check on my car once a year to see what's up with it and make a decision on whether to lay it to rest or keep it for another year. They have even allowed me to pay for major repairs over time. They are embedded in the Amherst/Belchertown community and I have used them for ten years now. Never been taken, never been disappointed. When they make a mistake, they admit it and make it right. They always try to get me in as soon as possible and are highly reliable and very kind, explaining everything that's wrong and what my options are. I also recommend them to all my friends.

I have brought a subaru forester here multiple times, while the staff is very friendly, that doesn't mean the repairs were done well. While getting a preemptive repair done (noticed head gasket leakage, and asked for a replacement) the entire engine was destroyed. This process involved 4-5 trips to the dealership--nooo it is NOT fixed I would say and describe an issue since the head gasket repair, and I would be sent on my way assured it was fine. Finally the car died in my driveway. It was towed and the explanation given was: no clue what happened, maybe something fell into the motor when the gasket was replaced....ummm...f#@!ing wonderful! So they installed a different used motor (which sounds older and crappier than mine=BAD) and paid for a rental car for me=GOOD. The gasket repair set me back $1250, for a repair which in reality never happened=BAD. A mix of good and bad service, at a price nearly $400 more than what I would have paid at my hometown mechanic in Worcester, Autopro Import Repair. For me the bad has outweighed the good.
