Bob Gooch is a MECHANIC.... Not the cheapest (some of my neighbors who are more cost sensitive than I agree that he's the best, but they feel they cannot afford him). Superior diagnostic skills, especially electronics... When in for a major repair (clutch replacement at 175K mi), Bob explained other repair / replacements that could be done while things were all taken apart. He wasn't selling, just explaining. Another point... Bob's contacts with the parts industry is second to none.... Turnaround time is very prompt.

Labor may be more expensive than other mechanics I've used, but on the other hand I've brought my car to Bob to fix the "repairs" that other mechanics have made, so in the end it's cheaper to pay him once and get the car fixed correctly. He explains in detail the problem and the fix, he keeps excellent records of all the work he's done on the car in the past, and one one occasion he actually suggested I take my car to the dealer instead because the problem might still be under warranty, and he mentioned other fixes the dealer could do at the same time to save money.

They took my car in right away even though I didn't have an appointment. Their labor costs are higher, but I find it worth while. Bob gives you options and tells you his opinion without pushing. This shop also has a loaner car that they let you use if it is available and they just ask that you fill it up when you are done with it. So far as a blond haired female I feel that they are treating me well.
