They are _expensive_! Their labor rate is $80/hr. In my case, I found they were slow to even begin to diagnose my car's problem. It's inconvenient that they close so early (5:30 PM). To their credit, when my car's problem prived difficult, the shop didn't just started replacing parts willy-nilly, but really was intent on correctly finding the faulty part first. OTOH, given their labor rate, I'm lucky my car's electronics problem cleared itself up spontaneously before my bill got big.

They've always found the problem first time, They try to keep the hourly rate the lowest in the area with out compromising on quality.

The mechanics at Sawyer are honest and very capable. They have helped me with problems with my old Volvo and Saab. I completely trust them and would recommend them to anyone.

I've dealt with Sawyer only once, but I'm definitely going back. When I took my car in I got a total feeling of honest, straight, competent service. They're extremely nice people to deal with. This was quite at odds with the feeling I've gotten from my local Subaru dealer....

I have been going to this shop for over ten years. I have never had a problem with any of their repairs, and their prices are always fair. They fully explain what they are doing and why. They understand what it's like to drive an older car with lot's of miles, and to be on a budget. (140K on this car and still going strong, 140K on my previous) If something can wait, they give me an estimate on how many miles I can go before the repair should be done (brakes for example) I recently had my tires changed at a local tire store, who subsequently quoted me for $900. worth of repairs. I brought it to Sawyer and got out of it for $360., and felt completely confident about their opinion and their work. I love these guys. If only I could find a doctor so good....

My Father has been using Sawyer automotive for 15 years, and myself for probably 10 or so. There's been a number of times when I've brought my car in where I wasn't really sure what was wrong with it. Many garages would have used a situation to thier advantage by replacing any part they think they could 'reasonably' justify. An example of this was a few months ago, I was experiencing a vibration in my '97 Toyota Tacoma that I knew to be at least one bad u-joint. I dropped the truck off, with instructions to replace whatever was bad. They could've replaced every u-joint on the shaft if they had wanted to, but they inspected them and replaced only one u-joint ... the one that was bad. Another shop would've replaced the lot of them to bump up thier labor hours. Sawyer's has always provided for me ONLY the repair that I need, and not a single part or service in addition without fist checking with me. They complete thier repairs on the schedule they promise barring extenuating circumstances. These guys are a first-rate honest shop. I highly recommend them to anybody.

First time I went to Sawyer, I took in a Saturn and they diagnosed and fixed a weird intermittent problem for me. Then I got my VW and started taking it to Sawyer regularly a few years ago. It's quite convenient, too, as it's in West Acton village within walking distance of my house. They have been great about taking good care of my car without breaking the bank. (I used to go to a different shop on the other side of town and I swear I never got out of there for less than $400, no matter what was wrong. . .) The folks at Sawywer's are always friendly, they listen, (and they always give my dog a biscuit when we stop by!)
