Steve at WRA knows his Volkswagens & Audis. Looking for a hard to find or unusual part? If he doesn't have it, call back in a few days and he will have found a dozen of what you need. I totalled out my 1970 karmann ghia and without thinking started calling all over the west coast and southwest U.S. looking for areplacement body. None of the so-called specialty shops had any full bodies or a front clip. Two hours(and a lot of long distance charges) later I called Steve, who just happened to have a complete '71 body behind his shop, and knew where I could get another one. One note of caution: If your car has been in his shop before he will remember it! (some things you just don't want to know if you've just bought a used V.W. from the local drag racing teenager)

I had almost given up hope of finding an honest mechanic when I stumbled across Steve. There are a few other shops in the area that will grudgingly work on aging VW Beetles (mine is a '68), but none of them have made me feel comfortable in dealing with them and are WAY too expensive. Steve can even occasionally be persuaded to trade work for Star Wars memorabilia! As a female with limited knowledge of cars (with the exception of what I've learned by getting ripped off), I have had to deal with far too many mechanics who spotted my ignorance the moment I walked through the door. I suspect Steve did too, but he has never taken advantage of it. I HIGHLY recommend him!

I found out about Steve at Westport Rd Auto years ago. My wife and I traveled a lot in our Volkswagen Camper. I might have been a thousand miles away from Louisville, but I could call Steve, and he would help me diagnose the problem and help me get on the road. When I was in town and needed some part, but was short on money, he would rustle up a used one out of the back to get me going. A fine human being and a heck of a VW mechanic!
