Tom & Ray - you should meet the true Click & Clacks' of Wheaton. Both are on again off again teachers at the Local Central DuPage College teaching automotive school. The two brothers like yourself are BOB & Russ Fouts with two other terrific mechanics Scott & Tim. Responsiveness to customers is their trade mark and when it is a true junk and should not be worked on they will be the first to tell you don't waste your dough ray me on that vehicle! My recent experience with Russ and Bob concerned my 1999 Town & Country Mini Van that was not running smoothly when the brake was on. After extensive work by the boys they determined it was a Chrysler problem and that I did not need to spend many thousands of dollars to isolate an infrequent occuring situation. Their motto is if there is not a true problem to fix we will not charge you the paying customer. Meet these terrific mechanics. Dale W. Davis

The guys at Carlton are tops! They kept our kids' high school car going and going and going. We just took our daughter to College in Calfornia and came back home to retire the "Red Rocket" after 15 years. The car was in the family that long because Bob and Russ go it through those traumatic years. Just had them check out the replacement and they didn't miss a thing! They'll have our business as long as we live close enough to get our cars to them. We won't go anywhere else!

My late father used to take the beaters my sisters and I used to drive during our high school years to Carlton when they needed fixing. When I moved back here, I figured I'd check them out based on the good review provided here at the MechanX Files. These guys aren't out for walletectomies. They actively discouraged me from having a dashboard light replaced, telling me it wasn't worth the $300 it would cost! Now, most shops enjoy having a single woman like me walk in, figuring they can stick me with all kinds of expensive and unnecessary repairs. I like the way the guys at Carlton do business. They treat their female customers courteously and do not condescend. Although I don't know much about cars, I care enough to take my car to a place that's more than just a part-swapping ripoff joint like most dealerships. I highly recommend Carlton--it's a great place to take your car!

Reporting that these guys are still great! Took my car to them with list of problems that the dealer said needed to be fixed. Carlton checked each out and found the list was combination of unneeded or inflated services and parts. They explained what did actually need to be done, why, showed me the old parts afterwards, and charged a reasonable price.

These guys are great! They truly are the Click and Clack of Wheaton. You need to get these guys on your radio show! They always bring out the parts that they replace and explain what went wrong with them. They also give me a hard time for my fondness of my 1994 Pontiac Sunbird that I still drive. But one of the guys can relate - he's been unsuccessfully trying to get his wife to give up a 1994 vehicle as well. This is a great shop to go to! I highly recommend them.

We heard about them from friends and they have lived up to our high expectations. If something doesn't need to be fixed, they will leave it alone.

They've always been honest and forthright with me. I'v had them work on several cars with various maladies. They always fixed the problem the first time and I always felt like I got a fair deal. They don't do some kinds of work (extensive body work, transmission rebuilds, alignment, etc.), but had good suggestions about good, honest places I could take my car for those kinds of work.

Carlton is reasonable and fair. They tell you exactly what needs to be fixed and nothing more. They tell you how many more miles it will take before a specific repair or maintenance will be needed. We have been using them for over twenty years and are impressed with their integrity.

Carlton fixed my car several times to my complete satisfaction. Other times, I asked them for advice, and they gave it freely. I always felt like I was getting the same quality of repair or advice that they would give their Mothers (but not the same price, of course!) Even though it's quite a bit out of my way, I still like to bring my car to them when it needs it.
