I am new and broke medical student in the area. I wanted to find a reliable place for oil changes and regular maintenance that wouldn't try to add on a ton of extra charges. Elite Tire and Auto was an outstanding experience. The owner advised me against making an unnecessary repair. They worked quickly for a fair price (plus a 10% student discount). The owner took the time to explain what they did and what they were thinking even though they were busy. Call ahead for an appointment because they are busy, but their high volume also means they don't need to rely on unnecessary charges to make money. It's next door to a Dunkin'Donuts, so I went there for a coffee and read a book. It's located by the CTA Greenline, so easy public transit access. I'm going back for all my car maintenance.

I went to the dealer to get brakes and they were too expensive so I went here. My dealer had only recommended brakes on the front. They told me I needed new brakes and rotors on both the front and back. I questioned whether I needed them on the back and they insisted they were in terrible shape and were a hazard. I needed new tires (which I didn't get here) so I told them only to do the front as they were much less than the dealer so I had them repair that. Then later when I was having the tires put on at Associated Tire, I asked them to check the back brakes - they said they had about another 20,000 miles on them and there was nothing wrong with the rotors.
