I was driving from Virginia to visit in-laws in Crystal Lake, IL. My Subaru Forester had been increasingly noisy in the right rear, and I was certain the oversize tires were rubbing on a boot or something, or the wheel was out of line. Bruce Barry (owner, mechanic) diagnosed with a stethescope that the wheel bearing was bad, and proved it to me by letting ME feel my way through the drive train. He had let me put the car on the rack in a 15 min. slot between jobs just two days before Christmas. When he realized my plight of being out of town and having to leave the day after Christmas, he got the parts and slotted me in that afternoon! He had it almost finished by the promised time (3 hrs, inlcuding getting the parts). When I arrived, he was finishing the job in spite of furious phone calls from the family to come home! Bruce is a fabulously competent mechanic who communicates well. I was allowed into the shop to touch and feel with the diagnosis (something I insist on)and at no time did I ever feel that anything wasn't completely transparent. He did me a huge favor by cramming me into his schedule at his personal time's expense. Other customers whom I chatted with worshipped him. His shop is very busy and the demand for his services is well beyond his ability to serve. One of the best garages I have EVER encountered.

I took my Aveo into CL Brake & Auto in July '13 for them to complete the timing belt and water pump change. They called me a week and half after having the car to advise me that the job was done but the radiator had a leak and the only solution was radiator replacement. The real problem here is that I am certain that the radiator did not have a leak prior to entering the shop. I was told they would keep the old radiator to show me the problem area, but when I came to pick up the car they had conveniently scrapped it. They have definitely lost my future business.
