I have a 1990 Audi V8 Quattro, an old and rare car. It has only 66k miles on it, but the suspension was really rough. I expected control arm and sway bar issues. I went in, and it was diagnosed as old struts. While doing a diagnosis, they noticed some other things that needed some care, including the dreaded serpentine belt, so they put together an estimate for me and promised the car by the end of the day. The estimate came in at $1350, which was great. I picked up the car at the end of the day, and the bill was only $950. They were able to get great deals from their parts suppliers, and they passed the savings on to me. I drove away, and the car drove like a dream. I've owned many cars, used many mechanics. This was by far the best experience I've ever had. Rudy and Ron (Rudy's son) are the best in Chicago. I was recommended separately and independently by two of my classmates in the UChicago MBA program. Add my recommendation to that list now, too. If you need an Audi repair, GO HERE.

"Classic" old fashion mechanics garage: smells of oil and gasoline. Girly pictures on the wall. Have no idea about boat payments. Rudy, Ron and crew have worked on my Toyota Van and then RAV4 for the past 14 years. They are honest, careful, thorough. They do what they say they will do and give realist cost and time-in-shop estimates. Their shop is always overwhelmed with vehicles (a demonstration of their popularity). They specialized in German cars, especially high-end and collector vehicles. If you can spare the vehicle for several days, this is the best choice for Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Wrigglyville, North Central (60613, 14, 18, 57, 40 and environs). Highly recommended.
