Both my father and I have taken cars to Rick Garmon for years. Rick and his father Richard have been running the business for a long time. I have a 79 chevy malibu with 280,000 miles on it and much of the work on it has been done by Rick. While there have been problems over the years, Rick has always been willing to admit a mistake and fix the problem. In one instance, Rick replaced the whole axle on my wife's old Lazer(blech) for simply the cost of the axle because one of his mechanics had missed a problem with one of the boots that I had asked him to fix twice. This amounted to nearly $400 worth of work. I have never had any problem with any of the work Rick has done, he rebuilt the engine on the malibu at a little over 200,000 miles and the car has run beautifully since. The only complaint about Rick's shop is that sometimes they do not call me as soon as my car is ready, but I very rarely have to take it back to them.

Rick is always honest. I have been told he charges too much and maybe he is high, but it seems it is not cheap having your car worked on anywhere. He broke the windshield on our Corvette once by accident and replaced it--no excuses. That was expensive! Also, we were getting a very annoying wind noise around our windshield on another car and he checked it out several times & couldn't find problem. One day he called us out of the blue and asked us to bring car in, he thought he might have the solution. Sure enough he did! It bugged him that he hadn't been able to find the problem and kept thinking about it until he solved it.

We have had 3 cars over the last 16 years (1985 Lincoln Town Car, traded in 2000, !995 Nissan Maxima, 2000 Ford Crown Vic, all purchased new)plus 2 of our daughters' cars repaired and regularly serviced. We have never experienced a break down on the road due to regular inspections as part of routine service which have caught "break down risky" wear (e.g., worn belts which I examined upon their removal). Rick Garmon has been able to diagnose a "noise" quickly when the new car dealer could not (e.g., rear wheel bearing). They are completely honest and have told us when there was no problem as well as when there was. Their modestly higher prices are well worth the peace of mind and complete reliability of repairs. We recommend them enthusiastically and without reservation. In fact, my secretary's recommendation was how we found them after our previous long-term mechanic retired and closed his shop. They said $330 on the phone. They charged me $380 when I got there. At least they completed the work quickly.
